Good to see you agree with my statement then!

Single player is still probably 10x more popular (in units sold) than multiplayer right now. And that's after multiplayer has been growing by leaps and bounds for the past few years.

BECAUSE GRAND THEFT AUTO DOESN'T HAVE MULTIPLAY, thats THE POINT OF MY ARGUMENT!
There are like 2 descent mp console games; Pgoth and Socom.

Actually, Professional, that anon guy was absolutely correct. Single player is still probably 10x more popular (in units sold) than multiplayer right now. And that's after multiplayer has been growing by leaps and bounds for the past few years.

GTA3 was set in the 90s, Vice City was set in the 80s, so, logically, San Andreas will be set in the 70s. How much you wanna bet that in one mission, you'll be in a dark green fastback "Stallion" chasing a black "Sabre"?

P.S. PS2 sux, PC rules, Xbox is a'ight. Rockstar needs to get their head out of their ass and ditch Sony already. From the get go they limit themselves to the PS2's miniscule 32Mb of RAM, and then cars disappear whenever you turn around, even in the PC version!

Oh I'm sorry, I forgot about the millions of people who play MMORPGS and online shooters like Counter-Strike... Must be my bad statistical analysis, for shame!

Now wait as I come up with some obscenely drawn out excuse for a metaphor to pretend like I know something... wait... here it comes... *squeezes harder*...

Think about how many great car chase movies were set in San Francisco in the late 60s/70s. The city is perfect for a GTA game -- lots of hills. Let's not forget Alcatraz. And with all the hippie stuff and great crime movies set there in that period, they can't lose. It's perfect.

#17, who'd you check? People on the internet? That's like going to an amputee ward in a hospital and concluding that there's a high trend that humans have missing limbs. It's called a bad sample, in statstics.

Like it or not, single player is still the most popular gametype out there, because not everyone has broadband yet to enjoy multiplay, and not everyone has computers capable of running multiplay. Sure, if you look on the internet, it looks like everything is multiplay. That's because the internet is the damn medium multiplay works over.

That's as silly as saying that blue is the most common color because your homepage happens to be set to Blue's News. Or even better, that FPS games are the most popular (another huge misconception) because Blue's News happens to cover them more in-depth than other genres. "Bad sample".

60s music... oh god NOOOO... the cars may have been cool, but I don't think I could enjoy driving around in music from that era.

Hmm, I think if it was set in the 50's, that would rock! So much good stuff from that period, including the music. I'm sure there was organized crime back then, eh?

And as for Multiplayer, this game is in serious need of some form of it, otherwise it's just washed up. Gta VC was amusing, but was to much like GTA3, with just new paint job. If they took the size of LA in True Crime (which comes out for our beloved PC in MAY!!), throw in the fighting system in TC, included it's side missions, only more, and had more places to enter, then this game would rock! I would even excuse the no MP if it had the size and fighting physics of True Crime. If they make this game like they did with GTA VC from GTA 3, then it won't be worth it to me.

And the PC version delay of 7 months is intolerable, but at least it came out so lets not bash them because console games may not look as good, or play as good in some cases, but we all know that console games sell like crazy and when it comes down to it, it's all about making the most return on a product as fast as possible to cover expenses for development.

I just hope Driv3r (pronounced Driver3) is as good as it looks, so I don't have to worry about if GTA:SA disappoints me. And it's coming out for my Xbox also, so I don't need to worry about waiting 7 months since I have an X2VGA to get high resolution out of my xbox, and there will be a delay til it comes out for the PC.

Anyways, San Andreas??? Cmon, how about an interesting new local? Sure, it's gonna have a few more steep roads than usual, but I'd love something different.

San Andreas has been apart of the GTA series from the beginning, so it's not surprising.

The million dollar question is WHEN is the game set? I'm thinking the 60s would be a riot...

Last time I checked, multiplayer was a booming industry, buddy.

Anyways, San Andreas??? Cmon, how about an interesting new local? Sure, it's gonna have a few more steep roads than usual, but I'd love something different.

Also, I don't know how well their PC sales were (and I am hardly Rockstar's bitch) because I didn't buy either GTA3 or VC specifically on the grounds for a lack of multiplayer. I'm sure I'm not alone here... (cmon, what was it, a month before the game shipped they said no MP?)

PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system... ya know you dont call a calculator a Ti42 computer calculation system. I do agree the only reason making it on ps2 is crap would be the fact that the ps2 is severely outdated by a PC gamers viewpoint.

I wonder why Rockstar are holding off multiplayer on their franchise.

Because the game is awesome single player, and they don't see the need to take off focus of the single player side to look at the multiplayer that would only appeal to a fraction of the potential consumers and existing player base.

Now maybe people will stop saying "GTA: Sin City" a year after last April Fools.

As for exclusivity, I'm hoping Rockstar learned what a big mistake that was last time. 2 years is a long time to wait for a port in the console world. Maybe this time we'll see a GameCube port! (hahaha... hah... ...)

GTA3 and GTA3: Vice City was PS2 "exclusive" too, but they managed to release an X-Box version there..

It's not sad that it's an PS2 exclusive, of course the other platforms will follow eventually. It's sad that it's developed on the PS2, meaning game will have, on the rest of the platforms, PS2-level limitations, which was painfully obvious in GTA:VC.

From the PR:

Over 30 million units of the Grand Theft Auto franchise have been shipped to date, including over 11.5 million units of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and over 10.5 million units of Grand Theft Auto 3.

I'm sure that's console and PC sales though...
