I know what your saying and it is quite possible it could be delayed but from no other form of information(forum bits & pieces, interviews, developer diaries, previews and several updates at ign) was there any indication of a delay.

You can believe the dev or the publisher. I suppose the publisher could push it out, but that doesn't mean it's finished.

This was posted the next day (nin) "Thank you for your continued interest and support for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. Regarding recent inquiries about the game's ship date, rest assured that Activision is planning to release the game this fall, 2004. Stay tuned for more updates coming in the next few weeks," by the activision pr type person.

I love how everybody is assuming that the final game is going to be exactly like what's in the video. It's not due out for at least another 8 months so they're going to tweak a ton of stuff between now and then....

I just got TrueCrime on the GC and as long as the graphics are clearer on my monitor than my TV I can never complain. I don't even have s-video inputs on my TV, and its starting to flicker and cut out and really screw up.

In otherwords, the graphics are better than consoles so I can't complain, the end.

and goes on to quote Troika's Jason Anderson as saying that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines is likewise delayed, reporting that the upcoming vampire-themed RPG that uses the same technology is now expected no sooner than Spring 2005, after originally being slated for a 2004 release

18. my impressions Feb 24, 2004, 20:41 carnevil47

Not to bad i suppose. First of all, Let me address the claim that its just a "run and gun" game. Well most of the run and gun is in the Brujah video. The Brujah 's doctrine is "run and gun" anyways so i guess that makes sense. Just as long as it is only a choice and not an requirment. However the graphics kinda of have me worried. Its most liekly due to the terrible quality of the video compression, but those models are kinda weak.

I think its wrong to write off this game immediatly because these videos do not represent the full game. Troika saidthat there will be persuasion, magic and stats. However, Deus Ex 2 is still fresh in my mind.

On the other hand, if you took a look at (say) BG2 gameplay and tried to make movies of it, a good part of it would have been combat or dialogue options

Excellent point, Nex. It's probably one of the biggest reasons why I no longer bother to download movies, they just don't tell me anything about the game. And the coolest bits that have you go "oooh errr missus" are always scripted and never happen in the game.

But, since this has been delayed till 2005, it's probably going to fall off my list anyways.

hnnnnggg.

The pessimist in me is watching those videos and frankly seeing Redemption again, except instead of hack-and-slash, insert FPS instead. Redemption's ...err... redemption (at least in part) was the multiplayer attempt (at the time).

On the other hand, if you took a look at (say) BG2 gameplay and tried to make movies of it, a good part of it would have been combat or dialogue options. I do want a demo before release to reassure myself though - this is just going to be one of those games where you really can't tell how well it's going to work without seeing more than a few clips.

lol

Now the thing to do would be to print that title so it curved all the way around the outer edge of the CD and you only needed "Vampire" once.

It's a shame to see an excellent, well-crafted RPG get murdered by the FPS genre.

In othernews the blew's cruise team has once agian decided to be infinatly pessimistic on a new games release. Eh, who cares

Welcome to the wonderful world of Jaded GamersTM (patent pending). It is not so much that gamers are negative and shoot up on prozac every morning, it is just that we're sick of the marketing game that makes every single game look freakin' awsome, hearing that it comes from unbelievably skilled developers, and winding up with a product not fit for the bargain bin. Deus Ex 2 and Halo for PC are some of the more recent additions, each of which did well enough selling wise but left many fans of the series (or would-be fans) more than a little disappointed.

So now gamers are beginning to set aside gameplay movies, marketing, interviews and in doing so tend to express this desire to *not* be hyped up over the whole thing. It might even be the 'cool' thing to do, to carry our noses high in the air and comment about who it doesn't begin to compare to yesteryears games. It's hip to be unfazed apparently.

Edit, I neglected the 'next' whipping boy of the game industry in reference to Half Life 2 and it's seriously messed up marketing. Nothing quite like having several developers say "Yes it'll be out" a month before it should be done. The whole hacking thing aside, it has truly damaged the relationship between gamers and the companies (publishers/developers) that produce/make the games.

8. Demo, please! Feb 24, 2004, 15:36 Ray Marden

Ugh, I definitely will need to play a demo before purchasing this one now. I was really excited about a new Vampire game, especially using the Source engine, but those movies really turned me off. It was just a combination of seemingly simple gameplay, low framerate, heavy emphasis on just shooting/openly attacking enemies, bland-looking graphics, etc.

About the only thing that was remotely unique to this game was the special blood spell/attack, else you just saw some random combat and an average looking model with some very poor (stereotypically generic) voice acting.

To be honest, it made me think of an equal part combination of Invisible War and Postal 2.

Hoping Half-LIfe 2 makes Christmas of this year,
Ray

meh. Not the source engine at its best. Even though the movie was lo-fi, all the models seemed to have a low polygon count.
