yeah, Onslaught is like 1942's conquest mode, but FAR faster-paced. And one sneaky bastard can't just walk across the map for 20 minutes to the least-guarded spawn point and capture it by HIDING IN A BUILDING. you have to actively be out and kicking ass, which I like.
I don't like taht you can't tell when you hit a vehicle with explosive weapons. when you hit a PLAYER, blood or metal sprays out from them. hitting a vehicle, your shot is basically absorbed....you don't even know if you're hitting it. Times like that make me actually appreciate the clown honking noise in Q3A.
For some reason, they felt a need to change the Link Gun from "Looks alright" to "looks like ass". The original model from UT is STILL the coolest of the set. Dual Enforcers didn't return, but now you can have dual machineguns, which is almost as fun.
The rebate for current UT2k3 owners, coupled with the inevitable second-week price drop that Best Buy will have on it, oughta make the game between $15 and $20. I'll pay that for two new (and good) modes, some new weapons, and a couple engine changes.
Hell, who DIDN'T buy Road To Rome (also for $20)? I like UT2k3's feel, and considering how much free shit they handed out for 2k3, I know there'll be plenty of official onslaught maps for 2k4.
