The IL-2 Sturmovik Website (thanks Frans) has word that the "US ubishop has opened pre-orders of the Ace Expansion Pack for its North-American customers." Here's more:

Pacific area flight sim here too. that would get me out of my no-more-ww2-flightsims mood. Im really stuffed with european campaigns (and planes).

Yeah, you can plane jump. You hit E, and then 9 to open your parachute. Then sail down towards another plane while holding E, and you get into it.

Ah including a few Japanese planes is nice but what i really like would be a full blown Pacific WW2 sim,complete with carrier landings,anti-shipping,close air support and island hopping campaigns. I really loved Aces of the Pacific and doing a sim using modern technology in a game like that would be great!

No, I think after this they're going to concentrate on the Battle of Britain game. Nice, but I wish they'd done N Africa or Pacific instead. I mean, they've already got Hurricanes, Stukas, 109s, 110s, He-111s, and Ju-88s in FB. All you need really is Spitfires and some Channel and England maps. I mean, I'm all for it, but it sounds like an expansion itself. Maddox Games BoB title is all new models with an all new engine. The poly count is through the roof on this one, so that's why we won't see any "imports" from IL2 or FB.

does IL-2 have the "plane jump" feature? That is, when you get shot down, can you immediately jump into the seat of another allied plane? I was playing Forgotten Enemies in the bomber campaign, but every single mission my bomber would get shot down by flak. I didn't see what exactly a high altitude bomber was supposed to do about dodging flak. So I just kept restarting the mission and failing. Then uninstalling. If there's a plane jump feature, someone tell me. :-\

Heheheh....I remember when Forgotten Battles was supposed to be an expansion pack - making this (in a way) an expansion pack for an expansion pack. Or they might just ditch the whole idea of an expansion again and just release it standalone...

Possibly the best flight sim ever! Smart enough for those of us who feel the need to go back to a simpler time when right was right and wrong was dead. If you er, uh, buy only one flight sim this year make it this one. Oleg deserves every cent. This comment was edited on Jan 31, 13:36.
