GTA4: Sin City?

Amazon.co.uk has posted a pre-order page for Grand Theft Auto IV: Sin City (thanks Tiscali Games). There's not much there, and what is should be taken with a grain of salt, but the listing offers a release date of 5 November, 2004 for the PS2 version, which, if accurate, tells us that a bunch of gamers as well as the litigious Jack Thomson will all be busy next holiday season.

just because they had a chinatown and little italy in gta3 doesn't mean it was new york.
Of course. But the fact that Liberty City has been inspired by New York since GTA, does.

The point is that rockstar should pick up on GTA3 in introducing cities that are more diverse. Cities that are actually interesting to travel through.
They do. It's called Midnight Club.
GTA isn't a racing game.

The game is not going to be set in "the real las vegas". Its going to be a SPOOF of Las Vegas that will be interesting and fun, and not just about making a bunch of sky-scrapers/brick buildings. Trust me.

We all know that COMIC BOOK ARTISTS only hang out with supermodels and famous actors.

http://movies.go.com/filmography/Filmography?person_id=194101

Considering Frank had his fingers on Robocop 2, maybe he knows Peter Weller.

(reminds self to someday pick up The Dark Knight Returns, and The Watchmen, done by Alan Moore...)

Edit: found a crap load of movies Frank Miller has worked on besides Robocop 2...

It would sure as hell beat another tropical city, especially Las Vegas.

Since when is Las Vegas a tropical city.

Its no more than a disney land for adults, all facade with no substance whats so ever.

Sounds like perfect ammo for Rockstar's brand of satire... dontcha' think?

just because they had a chinatown and little italy in gta3 doesn't mean it was new york. And as a matter of fact I was in boston last weekend, city is full of great sites, landmarks and neighborhoods. It would sure as hell beat another tropical city, especially Las Vegas. I can't stand that fucking city, if you can call it that. Its no more than a disney land for adults, all facade with no substance whats so ever.

The point is that rockstar should pick up on GTA3 in introducing cities that are more diverse. Cities that are actually interesting to travel through.

This isn't gta4 btw, its still going to be built on the same engine as the previous two.

[i]Just out of curiosity, what exactly are you going off on someone for, just for mentioning the Sin City comic?[i]

They are going off on him thinking that it took place in the Sin City world because it had the name Sin City. Therefore one can assume he thinks anything Sin City is the comic, not Vegas. Thus, he = idiot.

And Xombie beat me to his wonderful point, perfectly and eloquently posted.

Seattle, New York, Boston, Detroit, for christ sake Chicago would be great.
-They already did New York. It was called GTA3.
-Have you ever BEEN to Boston or Detroit? They're not exactly video-game-calibur excitement.

Sure you did. I imagine he often works with smartasses who hang out on gaming news forums - that's perfectly believable.
Of course. A COMIC BOOK artist working with smartass dork who is on the internet too much? That would be absurd. We all know that COMIC BOOK ARTISTS only hang out with supermodels and famous actors.

bah! I don't care if its a full-blown sequel or not, I just hope they add a few more poly's to the game characters in the next iteration.

They have my vote of confidence that whatever they publish next in the GTA series will be solid and very fun... They just need to ditch those consoles.. lol

Catch the wave of the future.. publish it for the PC only! or
Don't be afraid to go retro... publish it for the PC only! lol

34. How 'bout this... Jan 2, 2004, 23:00 WarPig

Las Vegas and crime has me thinking Godfather 2.

It would fit in perfectly - at the end of Vice City, Tommy is finally on top, so at the beginning of Sin City Tommy starts off in his Vegas mansion trying to stay on top as other mobs, the law, and his own people try to knock him off.

Maybe he could be double-crossed, sent to jail, break out, and then try to find out who set him up as he gets his revenge. Lots of possibilities.

Please move along people. Nothing to see here.

I just pray to Jeebus that they include multiplayer support out of the box.

I don't. What exactly would you do in multiplayer? I can't imagine on-foot deathmatch would be any fun, and there are already plenty of vehicle-based combat games out there.

Jebus denies your prayer and mails you an issue of EGM.

lol @ this....What do you think Liberty City was??

Tame. Think about it--it was only the criminals who were corrupt. Sin City, if it's a Las Vegas style place... well, five words: legalized prostitution and casinos galore.

Anyway, is it just me, or did Rockstar previously say that the next GTA game would be a spinoff ala Vice City, and the game AFTER this next one would be GTA4?

"vice city, sin city, what the fcuk?!

Its definitely time for a change, something more dank and dark. Fun in the sun probably sells more, but its too childish and cliche. Seattle, New York, Boston, Detroit, for christ sake Chicago would be great."

Btw, I personally don't think there's any chance this game would be based on Frank Miller's "Sin City" comic, although it would be kind of cool (stylistically and story-wise). Also, just to clear things up for anyone who may be confused when seeing this brought up, "Sin City" the comic book isn't about Vegas, the title refers to "Basin City", where it takes place.

Funny thing is, this game will be released *before* that other game about mindless violence and mayhem set in a desert city oasis that has gambling and strippers. Yes folks, GTA4 will be released before Duke Nukem Forever.

(Heh, surprised no one has jumped on this connection yet)
