I tolerated UFO...but damn..the final mission sucked ass. Complete Disappointment (tm). totally anticlimactic...almost identical to other base missions.
its anything BUT a strategy game....you can win by just banding your troops together and firing en-masse...hell its probably the only way to win cuz you can't really split up your troops often like you could in X-com

Really? I thought Apocalypse mostly blew. The AI was awful.
Terror From the Deep was also disappointing. The graphics were a huge step backwards, even though it was the same engine, and often I'd go entire months without any action.
Jagged Alliance, and Jagged Alliance 2 share the crown with X-Com, to me. Silent Storm is getting insanely glowing reviews, though.

Very good game and even better once you hack the console to get into First Person Mode OMG.
UFO has been erased from my hard drive and traded to a ex-friend for a copy of HeavyGear2 hehe.

If someone was able to marry the old X-Com base management, research, and freeform style to the Silent Storm combat engine... it would be the best computer game EVER MADE!!

Okay, the site looks interesting, I suppose I can download the Silent Storm demo when I get home. I would like to destroy someone in a tactical-squad-turn-based manner and these graphics look better than LSN.
One stupid question: if it's a WWII game, why are they wearing mechanized body armor on the webpage? some sort of "secret weapons" perhaps?

X-comesque tactical gameplay anyway and it does it superbly. I wouldn't say that was their aim though. Clearly UFO:Aftermath aimed to be the new X-com. And missed. Just get Silent Storm and learn how much fun it is to blast your enemies through a wall, in a turn based game.

I love the power glove. It's so bad. |

I played the demo, hoping that it would have that X-COM joie de vivre but found it lacking.
Has anyone played this game and enjoyed it? I'm still fruitlessly searching for that play-till-three-AM sort of gameplay.
