Found my first bug...went to the Yavin station, went through 3 doors and the screen goes black. After looking at the support boards, I'm not alone...

Finally got that Mooka Shaka Paca kid off my ship...lil' bastard was eatin' all the food...

I always figured you for a Twi'lek, nin

Btw, EB at Woodland Hills doesn't have X2 (just went there), but he said he's expecting it.

Oh, and if you go on Tuesdays, the mall is perfectly acceptable. Seems to be the only day when it's nice and quiet around there.

Since the patch, I haven't had it crash yet, but I've only played it once since then.

That's funny, because I did not have a single crash before the patch and after the patch, the game crashed on me (albeit after 3 straight hours of playing). Some more KoTOR tonight

Stin: Yikes, it reminds me of Jedi Academy after using quick save and quick load too many times. I wasn't the one with this problem either.

Nin: Still looking for a cheaper price than $39.99. I will probably get it on Friday or Saturday.

The original release had some memory leak issues. After playing for 3-4 hours, I'd have the game crash to the desktop. Not a huge deal, I'd just restart the game and continue playing, but annoying. I found that a defrag of my hard-drive cleared up a lot of the crashes (probably because Windows had more room for virtual memory).

Since the patch, I haven't had it crash yet, but I've only played it once since then. My brother hasn't experienced anything weird.

I've not seen any bugs, so I guess I've been lucky in that regard...

Is the game still buggy? I heard some people had problems with this game. Does the patch fixes a lot of major issues?

EB at Woodland Hills has X2?

I'm not saying they do, just that that's where I got the original...call 'em.

I think, technically, they're its a Software Etc, but they're all in bed with each other...

Good luck @ Woodland Hills, BTW...that place is hell on earth between Thanksgiving and Xmas...

EB at Woodland Hills has X2? Dammit, they must have hidden it in some sneaky corner or something...

Edit : I went through as Light Side and have now been playing as Dark Side. Even when I use the more sinister remarks during dialogue I often get the same response as I did when using the nicer goody-to-shoes remarks.

Not in all cases, and even so, there are quite a few quests where you have a light path and a dark side path, and the two paths are pretty different (even though in the end it still boils down to "Lay the Smack Down").
I amused myself fully on my three times through, total playing time, around 85 hours.

Replay value comes from the fact that, when someone asks you a question, you pick from anywhere from 2-5 choices. Some are nice, and some aren't. You have a "morality compass" similar to the original Jedi Knight. Depending how nice or bad you are, the compass changes. So based on the way you treat people, you effect the gameplay (and in turn, the story). So assuming you play nice all the way once, and evil another, you're talking at least 2 trips through the game.

This is a bit of a misnomer. I went through as Light Side and have now been playing as Dark Side. Even when I use the more sinister remarks during dialogue I often get the same response as I did when using the nicer goody-to-shoes remarks.

It doesn't take much away though from the overall fun factor of the game though, IMO.

Check the EB over at Woodland Hills (if you're a sadist and want to go to the busiest mall during the Xmas rush)...that's where I got the original.

Anymore, 75% of the games I order come from ebworld.com...

So much so that originally I was going to pass, but I think (based on comments here) that I'm going to have to pick it up.

Good luck with that, as no store here in AssWipe, Oklahoma seems to have it (X2). I've been looking for it for two weeks

Edit : Now if we could only get an expansion!

Not going to happen, but the sequel (KotOR2) is already in the works (albeit not made by Bioware)

And yes, I do believe someone said... KotOR!

a good sign that Bioware may someday live up to it's reputation

I'd say they already have, and always do. This is probably the best Star Wars game since "TIE Fighter" and "Dark Forces".

Baldurs Gate 2 still remains the definative RPG (150 hours of gameplay, 250 with the expansion) and there other RPG/D&D titles are excellent games in their own right.

As for X2...

Played it, but having some "performance issues". If you liked Elite or its ilk, you'll love this.

Its just VERY slow to get going. Money makes money, and early on you don't make alot of it. You need over 50million credits to get the big ships (I currently sit on 25,000, with 2 ships after 3 hours) and unless you chose trading as a business - your not going to get anywhere very quickly...

Its a love or hate game.

1. No mods that I'm aware of, but there might be some in progress on fan sites...

3. $39.99 is good. I haven't seen it cheaper, I'll say that. I paid $50.

Now if we could only get an expansion!

edit: Force Powers are determined by morality also. If I play the nice guy, dark side powers will cost me more, and some may not even be available. And vice versa if you play evil...

I know what you mean about D&D...until BG2, I couldn't have cared less. But 2 sucked me in, and KOTOR continues that tradition. It is role playing. It is turned based, but plays in real time (which can be paused at any time).

Hmmm! I also don't like DND-rule-based games either. I did like Diablo games. Ugh, ugh, ugh! I think I need to get this game.

How's the mod support since this game doesn't have multiplayer? I just hope the game has enough replayability after I finish the game.

Also, is $39.99 the lowest in retail stores in Los Angeles, CA? I see Best Buy has it for that price in its weekly ad (http://bestbuy.dailyshopper.com/lib/bestbuy//133935_b.JPG) so I can take the ad to a local EB store and pricematch. And no, I don't do mail order.

We are the Knights Who Say

KotOR!

KOTOR!

As far as between it and X2, I haven't tried X2, but everyone here speaks very highly of it also. So much so that originally I was going to pass, but I think (based on comments here) that I'm going to have to pick it up.

Guess it boils down to what kind of game you're more in the mood for...whichever you don't get, put on your Xmas list.

What about X2? I may have to decide between these two games...

EDIT: You guys REALLY seem to love this game, though, so it may be tough descision.

There was only one catch and that was Catch-22
