Out of the Blue

Unwashed heathens rejoice, the retro colors option has been added to the main news page here. The archive pages and most of the main static pages have now likewise been updated, though the forums and a couple of other areas generated by scripts still need to be worked on, so for now we have one retro colors option on the new format and a retro retro colors option on the old one. I am, of course, a monkey myself, and I have to express my extreme gratitude to Frans who has put in a yeoman volunteer effort at getting these pages updated, and thanks in advance, as he will be instrumental in updating the remaining pages over the coming days.

In the meantime, an issue has been raised about font sizes after the update, and how they scale larger and smaller across different pages, so I will be looking into creating a more consistent behavior in this area.

Play Time: The Hello World Project. Thanks nin and Wired.
Links of the Day: Paul Really Is Dead.
Stories of the Day: Doctors take action on flu shot shortage.
Gollum's state of mind stirs up medical debate
.
Science!: Lost forest fuels malaria. Conservation and medicine collide in the jungle.
Project to drill into Earth fault.
Thanks Mike Martinez.

GO BROWNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well, bronco, you know i care!!! in fact i was at the game... not a bad game all things considered, but a shame we lost. we actually played them pretty well - but the quarterback carousel screwed us over. here's hoping that couch has his job back now. he comes in after weeks on the bench, and with a bum knee, and still outplayed holcomb by a mile. i was impressed that we didn't get blown out... i think the browns may be one hell of a team next year - if couch is the man behind the O-line. our defense is incredible, now our offense just needs to gel (and stay healthy dammit!!!).

Hey Bronco,

Did you catch that History Channel thing on Tailgating? I can't tell you the pride I felt to see Philly recognized as having the nastiest fans around.....Snowballs at Santa?...Booing an injured (Dallas) player (Michael Irvine) for 20 minutes?....first judge/jail at a staduim? (the vet)....

I may kid about them blowing it......but I still LOVE my Eagles...

32. Battle Star Galatica Dec 8, 2003, 23:27 Enahs

So, The first part of the mini-series of the new Battle Star Galatacia.

I had hopes but it was not that great. I will not go into too much I disliked about it, as to not ruin it for people. I will just say this, Too much pre-war character development, and too much setting up for strong emotional battles. The relationships would of been better if they developed mostly during battle(brakes in battle), not all this setup crap. All in all, annoying how they went with it. But I will say that I will watch the second part, why?
Because Edward James Olmos and Marry McDonnel both fit the roles perfectly, and play them great. They can at least carry the movie (if they have enough scenes) for another 2 hours....

blah!

I cant wait to see the Birds storm the playoffs only to lose in the division championship....it happens every time....gosh damn it

Now, it doesn't happen every time. Just the last two times.

If one thing is for sure, you can definitely differentiate someone's musical instrument playing style. That definitely wasn't an imposter playing those basslines post-67. That unique style comes from the inside. Only Paul could have done that. Maybe Paul started plastic surgery early because he didn't want to look like the chubby pug that he was... and then the band joked around about it saying "Paul is dead" because he looked different. In fact, it was the band that started the hoax.

Want to be severely disturbed? Go to hello world and click on images. gah...

Um...I didn't find it. I went looking as I was the one who submitted the link to Blue, and I would never post anything crude or pornographic on Blue's site...

Hopefully they pulled it?

23. Mid-page ad Dec 8, 2003, 20:04 Bucky

Dangit, that website in an ad is back again--I've got the whole freakin' CS for xbox site sitting there. Was there any 'official' position on this sort of ad, or is it just something that I have to learn to avoid when scrolling?

I love it. The blue is nice - but the black is refreshing -
weird how that works - Nice to see a step back rather than a step forward into ugly like some other sites have done.

20. More font wonky-ness Dec 8, 2003, 17:25 banddirector

On today's homepage, some of the fonts are the "normal" size, and some are small. The headlines and quoted text in yellow are normal, but all the rest is the new teeny font (r).

Today is the 23rd anniversary of John Lennon's death.
Also, Jim Morrison would have been 60 today. Freaky huh?

I'm with Tron, I like the newer colors. Easier on the eyes.

This would be far more plausible that Paul being dead, I think...

this reminds me of when chris farley was on SNL interviewing paul and asked him: "remember when you were in the beatles? and remember when everyone was saying you were dead? that was just a hoax, right?"
