Out of the Blue

We may be paying a price for our policy of peaceful coexistence with the spider population here in the BlueTower, as MrsBlue and I have both suffered an unusual number of what we believe are insect bites lately that we think may be from spiders. The spiders are actually supposed to protect against us being snacked upon in such a manner, and it usually works out quite well, but we theorize that the frosty weather has so diminished their natural food supply that they are widening their nets, or in this case, webs, to include us. If this persists, we may just have to declare war on the arachnids, as it certainly doesn't make sense to import insects for them to feed upon, and I can't find a single store in the area that serves spider chow.

Oh yeah, speaking of things that have been bugging me, an extra pop-up ad was appearing here upon exiting, and since one pop-up per visit is more than enough already, I have disabled the pop-up code until this can be cleared up.

Blue, what did the bites look like? My ex gf would get spider bites in my bedroom all the time. It was definitely spiders as they were very clear looking tiny spiders up on the ceiling corners (but you really had to look). They hid at daytime as well.

Turns out they were coming in from our balcony door which had the slightest gap with the wood framing. Once we had that repaired, that was all cleared up and no more bites. I never seemed to get the bites for whatever reason, but her bites were small little red bites - no where near as prominent as mosquito bites or poisonous spider bites that some folks were describing.

I suspect that my bed has em too, because recently i am waking up finding welts with red inflammation around them, accompanied with spots of subdermal bleeding near the area of the bite site, due to unconsious scratching i suppose. It's strange because my room is far from dirty & i clean it regularly.

Those welts can last up to a day,and is pretty prominent compared to mosquito bites which fade away rather quickly.

Btw,i don't think i can continue sleeping after a spider bite. Even small spiders can inflict a painful puncture.

Could be a few things, bed bugs as pointed out. But they leave a smell almost like strawberries; oh and you can see them just pull up your matress and take a look. Very distinguishable, very easy to get rid of. And very common in northern ontario, and farther north here in Canada and Alaska. More then likely, it's fleas, or some other little critter like that; or another type of outdoor parasite, maybe mites of some kind, lice, etc. Easy enough a solution to get a indoor trap and see what you catch, take a look and take the correct solution to get rid of it.

Spiders only bite if you roll ontop of them, they are picky eaters. People are not a favorite food.

if you are getting bitten at night, it's probably bedbugs.

Nasty they are.

Wonder how the Shareholders are feeling about the N-Gage about now

If they're not pissed yet, I bet they will be. I'm guessing, a year from now, when everyone agrees that the N-Gage is a dud, they'll be some house cleaning at Nokia. Especially now, after the games have been cracked and can run on other phones.

edit: Oh, and greetings to Wovenskin. Welcome!

I like the fact that they consider it a traversty (sic) that they are not catered for, and express confusion when the medical equipment cannot handle their needs. apparently the medical field should be buying specialist equipment for a select few...

They should make it law for fat people to run a mile every day, with more miles added the more they complain.

A good friend of mine is a physician in Detroit, and he says the problem is even more pronounced than what you see in the media.

I have no sympathy for these people. To be that lazy and gluttinous and then expect sympathy after the fact? No. It really is an issue of will power. As a wise man once said, 'Sometimes we must say no to our desires in order to know we are truly free'.

Heh. Looks like I missed the massive Deus Ex Debate. Too bad. I'll still be buying the game but I probably won't get it until Christmas break when I build my new computer. From what I've seen (the demo) I pretty much agree with the Gamespy review posted the other day.

Yay! I'm back from the Tanksgiving Holiday in New Hampshire. I had a fairly good time. I watched at least a half a dozen movies and at 3/4 of a loaf of pumpkin bread by myself.
