Creston, everything you say makes perfect sense, but try the demo first. The majority of all the positive remarks come from people who haven't seen the game for themselves. I guarantee the overall response would be more positive if the game ran like it's supposed to on high-end machines. You have to admit something is definitely wrong when people with the latest Geforce and Radeon cards have to play at 800x600 for a decent framerate. Especially when there's nothing visibly draining processor power.
Mad Max, I totally agree with you. However, the entire Internet is currently being linked to the "Mod your DX : IW Demo" thread on the Ion forums, which has improved performance by a billion percent for most people. Yes, it sucks that you have to do that, but I think that in the full version, they will at least have fixed that. It's just settings in an .ini file, won't take THAT long for them to change that on their Gold Master.
This is the kind of shit that happens when you are rushed to try to release a demo that receives very little testing.
Btw, it's actually still sticking true to vein compared to the first Deus Ex. Remember how badly it ran on Nvidia cards, and Ion had to release a new version of some .dll after two weeks to get Nvidia users up to a decent framerate? Nothing we haven't seen before, people. 
As for trying the demo, I think I'll try the full game, then let you know what I think. If the game sucks, I'll be sure to let you know.
It's my point that for a game like Deus Ex, a Demo just DOESN'T work.
