Jedi Audigy

Kenn Hoekstra's .plan file has word from the Raven Software Project Administrator of new Audigy drivers that address sound issues some are experiencing in Jedi Academy. Here's the deal:

Creative just released new sound drivers for its Audigy 2 cards last night and they resolve the issues that some people are having with the EAX/sound in Jedi Academy.

We've received reports of high pitched squealing while running the game on Audigy hardware. These new drivers (EAX enhancements, really) fix that problem and several other EAX problems found in many of the newer games out there. Sound performance, in general, seems to be greatly improved.

You can download the new drivers here:

The creative site says that the download is for all Audigy, Audigy2 and Augidy2 ZS cards, so you should be in luck. However, the driver install itself says it's an Audigy2 Web Update, so the reality is anyone's guess.

This seems to have solved all the weird glitches I was getting with Max Payne 2, at least at first play. I'll drop back later if I can and let anyone know if the problem still exists.

I've got an Audigy2 on WinXP with DX9.0b, with a P4 processor and a gig of RAM, if any of that's any use to anyone.

What about the JA patch, if there is one. The server browser bug blows for people who run servers. I had the entire world trying to join my server last weekend. As it was only 1 of a handful visable, 10 gigs of extra traffic both ways. My host almost cut off my server forever. Jedi Academy isn't worth the risk of my entire game server project.

This was never a issue with JK2

Nice of you to drop by.

What DirectX version are you running? 9.0, 9.0a or 9.0b?

Anyone else having problems with this driver ?

I've managed to recover my sound by reinstalling the original drivers.
I still have sound after I install all the other newer updates (Consol, spearkersetup, soundfont, ect.. )
But as soon as I install this new eax 4 driver I lose everything. The diagnostic tests show it is detecting the hardware and the registry, but everything else fails !

I own a SBAudigy 2, product # sb0240

Frustrated....

Ahhh !! I lost all my sound now.

Can't creative be creative and incorporate all the updates into one install file. man what a pain.

The diagnostic test shows the hardware is detected but now it failed in everything else. Numerous driver reinstalls have all failed. And to boot the autoupdate feature is saying im all up to date.
