9. Re: FTC disables pop-up ad firm. Nov 8, 2003, 03:04 indiv

Bah, as I recall reading yesterday these guys spammed through windows messenger. While it is a victory I doubt anyone even looking at this website will notice a change, since they have long since turned messenger off.

I just read the article and I'd say it's not even a victory. The only reason the company got shut down was because they were Messenger spamming to sell software that would stop Messenger spam... basically extortion. If they had instead been spamming something else (like, say, viagra or whatever), they wouldn't have been shut down. Oy.

You'd think they'd be a little more grateful.......

They gave the guy $500 and a free copy of visual basic, not bad for him paying $35 to renew the domain name.

"The steady rise in the speed of bipolar transistors has relied largely on the vertical scaling of the epitaxial layer structure to reduce the carrier transit time," said Milton Feng
But how fast will it play Doom 3?

I'm going to assume its just that way to fit with the OotB. I really hope it's temporary anyway, as a name change that was inspired in part by that accursed show is not a good thing.

2. Hotmail SNAFU Nov 7, 2003, 12:55 ICghost

This isnt the first time Microsoft let a Hotmail critical domain name get away. Some years ago, a passport domain expired and was also snapped up by a user with Microsoft's best interest in mind. In both cases, MS has dealt with the user in a less than professional manner. You'd think they'd be a little more grateful.......

Is "The Joy of Techs" the new name for Tech Bits?
Or is this just for today, to fit with the OotB?
