Out of the Blue

I dunno, I was let down by Matrix Revolutions. I was one of those who really enjoyed the second film, so I wasn't daunted by early indications that the third one was getting mixed reviews, but I didn't really enjoy it. Oh well, there are still other finales to look forward to, the third (sixth) Star Wars movie, the third Lord of the Rings movie, Kill Bill Part Two, and of course, the next Legally Blond movie...

Congrats to Jcal at HomeLAN Fed on the occasion of his getting hitched!

R.I.P.: Bobby Hatfield of Righteous Brothers dead at 63. "If you believe in forever, then life is just a one-night stand. If there's a rock and roll heaven, well you know they've got a hell of a band..."

Play Time: Hexxagon. Thanks Ajax.
Stories of the Day: Sad End to Computing's Inventor.
Show asks 'Can YOU Be a Pornstar'?
Science!: Fish 'farts' a form of communication? Thanks Devster.
New treatment works like 'liquid Drano for arteries.' Presumably that's good.
Did early humans use toothpicks?
Media of the Day: The Meatrix.
Follow-up: Drunken sailor may have gone a little overboard. Thanks Klashe.
Voyager says goodbye to Solar System. Next stop: Star Trek TMP.
Thanks Mike Martinez.

This movie kicked ass

It summed up everything, was clear and concise, and the action sequences were fucking amazing. The view of the earth, to Neo doing what he did, was just kick ass. We finally got to see the world and what the machines did to it.

Many of you must not be real fans, if no I highly recommend renting or buying the ANIMATRIX for more detail on this AWESOME fucking movie trilogy

Thank goodness my browser blocks the pop-ups. I get a beep when a pop-up is blocked. It used to be just one beep; now there are more. If you don't like pop-ups, find a pop-up blocker.

BTW, I try to support Blue by clicking the ads that are displayed. I've even started clinking the annoyingly distracting Flash ads that are embedded within/alongside the news.

Meatrix? Nice liberal action there blue.

As opposed to what, the current governments stellar action with the food supply?

The current government is allowing food producers and scientists to f*ck with the food supply in ways you can't imagine. Pretty soon everything you eat will be genetically modified in some way.

Meatrix?

It's got some good points.

Excessive use of antibiotics is a bad thing, because it does lead to extremely resistant diseases that cause a lot of trouble. It's the same as the super bugs in hospitals due to excessive use of antibiotics and whatnot in there. Like someone said, that's the kind of thing that causes SARS and stuff.

The whole factory farming thing is not on really. It's cruel to the animals, and that's out of line. There's no reason to not treat animals ethically before they die, so to that extent I'm with PETA and whoever else on this.

As for needing all this meat because of huge demand... If people ate what they needed rather than eating till they were 50 stone and couldn't damn move then there'd be less of an issue, hmmm?

So what's with the hairy armpits? How would you know?

Meatrix is a great flash and would be even better if a bored gamer made it for free because it was a good thing to do instead of it being made by an organization.

No need to knock blue just because there is one link one day suggesting americans eat too much factory raised meat .. that's not enough to conclude good ol candy eating soft drink guzzling Blue has become an environmentally concientious steward.

"...how did that movie change the world it is still a cookie cutter action movie."

Thats just the thing, in a fucked up way, it kind of did.

The irony to me, about these movies, is that its like The Matrix is actually the movies themselves. People flock to see these movies that, while they are pretty and pseudo phillisophical, they arent that great but people want them to be, they arent real life (in their pseudo phillisophical stance) but yet in a way they are, but we still need them to get out of reality for a while....I was about to go int a long rant here about how much I hate hollywood but how its neccesary but I wont cuz im tired so Ill leave it up to you all to figure out. Anotherwords, blue or red?

With that said, I bet John Carmack gets some really high quality drugs.

I don't understand what the hell people complain about in Reloaded and Revolutions, or how they say it ruined the Matrix. Give me a break, watch The Matrix again to refresh your memory, other then the "O, yeah maybe, just maybe" concept and the pretty cool bullet-time, how did that movie change the world it is still a cookie cutter action movie. It would be one hell of a chore to reinvent movie making as we know it for every Matrix movie made. I thought all three movies kicked ass except for killing Trinity, good God what the hell was that for, any future Matrix without that goddess with be sorely lacking , but I guess it was different for me because the original wasn't a religious experience for me and I didn't expect the sequels to build on that.

O, yeah I loved playing a 2 yr old console game that made my $3,500, top of the line, I-don't-have-a-girlfriend PC almost melt.

I can live with the overlay ads, I even click em' for Blue's sake. The popups are annoying, but I can still live with em'. I can't, however, live with an ad telling me to turn my cookies on so it can track me. That just pisses me off.

50. Blame the trailers Nov 7, 2003, 00:02 MrJonesPY

When I was viewing Matrix Revolutions, many time I said to myself: "I someone showed this picture to me before the movie, I would kill that person".
Well, after comming from the theater, I just find out that some "surprise" images were included in the trailers.
So, if you did not like Revolutions, blame the damn trailers!

Yeah, talk about a 1 sided argument to an issue....

Well yeah, it's not like it's an unbiased news article (if such a thing even exists these days). I was just saying that a couple of the points brought up shouldn't be dismissed without at least considering them.

48. Yet Another Matrix Review Nov 6, 2003, 23:18 The Pyro

Matrix thoughts:

I think the reason I was disappointed with Revolutions (and somewhat with Reloaded) was that there was too much action and not enough stuff to make me think. The first Matrix movie had all these great new ideas (for cinema, at least), making the audience question reality and discover this whole new world where things just don't work the same way. Half the movie was "discovery" I suppose - and I liked that.

But this most recent installment completely left out all of that thinking nonsense. Oh yeah, they throw in a couple scenes with the Oracle saying silly things like "Everything that has a beginning must have an end", but that's just not the same. Those scenes were just filler, giving the audience a breather before the next 30 minute action sequence. No new revelations to be made.

Thus, while my eyes were quite entertained by the glorious eye-candy, my brain was bored, to be perfectly honest. I didn't find myself feeling particularly attached to any of the characters at all.

47. Talk about one sided.... Nov 6, 2003, 23:07 Sasquach

Yeah, talk about a 1 sided argument to an issue....the funny thing is, if it were reversed, and there was a nice little flash presentation about the virtues of disease free animals and the vastly increased productivity (which allows us to have such over-supplies of food that we sell/donate assloads each year) on "factory farms".....plus all the technological research that is being done to help solve the animal waste problems......it would just be a "Corporate brainwashing blah blah blah....."

One of my best friends and his family will, whenever they're close enough, go into Mexico and buy this dirt cheap Penicillin and then take it whenever they feel a sniffle coming on. I try to tell them that antibiotics do nothing to kill viruses (colds) and about the overall damage they could be doing but... I don't know, I guess somethings got to wipe us all out.

Though the conditions in human populations may be better, antibiotic resistant strains of common infectious bateria are still appearing.

The first pediatrician we used for our kids was always pushing antibiotics. We read up on it and used them only in instances where we deemed them necessary.

Here is a good book on the subject:
