Pretty cool picture but as you'll notice it's on snopes.com because it's not actually a picture of a hurricane.

My auction failed again

I sell items on eBay for a local antique car parts place here... Do you have nice, clear pictures? When are you ending your auctions? Have you done a little 'market research' to see if people are selling similar items and what the prices are? And are your auctions even getting noticed?
It can be hard to 'get the ball rolling' if your feedback is low and you only have a few items to sell. However if you write a good title have lots of good search words in your description you'll get some hits. Then they will look at your pictures - if you have multiple views, have clearly pointed out flaws, etc. then you should be getting bids. (I recommend getting a web host for pictures since eBay's picture services can be pricey when you add up all the fees)
But some things are just tough to sell, and you have to stick with it. Managing a couple items is a lot easier than 300+, let me tell ya...

Thanks The Truth and Scottish Martial Arts. I bought an Xbox just because of this game, and found out how bad an FPS is on a console - - NOTHING beats a keyboard and mouse! Anyway, I only played the first part of it and I was hoping the PC version was going to be good ...

Edit: and also thanks to Camaro76

39. 2 cents on Halo... Oct 3, 2003, 23:44 Camaro76

I'm a bit disappointed that I can't run it full-out at 1024x768 with all details on (AMD 2400+, GFti4400) like most other games, and I dislike controlling the Warthog with the mouse as I keep trying to use the keyboard to turn left/right. But all in all it seems pretty fun. Graphics aren't the best but they work. From all the negativity I've seen I almost didn't buy it.

I shudder to think what this game would be like on a computer that meets the minimum specs listed on the box though...

p.s. If you liked BHD the movie (or game I suppose) go read the book - it's one that you will not want to put down until it's done.

But the real question is, do tron's get what they need through osmosis?

You did not link to it this time. Did it go any higher?

Do you know anyone with a higher feedback number that could sell it for you?

I mostly continue to visit Blue's out of loyalty's sake, and the hope that one day he'll get so tired of suburban OotB meanderings that he'll actually get interested and active in computer games again, which is of course what its about here right?

I do believe that the lack of gaming related OotB is directly related to Blue and his journalistic integrity. The last game he mentioned playing was BF1942 and before that I think it was that DOOM legacy project.

I for one would love to see more of Blue's personality on the site.

I would like to see more ways for the budding community here to interact and communicate.

There are some very nice, helpful people hanging out here.

but they get most of the water they need through osmosis.

I found it interesting that salt water and fresh water fish actually react to water in different fashions.

Only 1% of all fish can survive in both fresh and salt environments.

How about, "Do fish drink water? And if so, how do they stop?"

nin, i actually own a book titled "do fish drink water?" and according to it, they do drink very very small amounts, but they get most of the water they need through osmosis.

32. Re: Halo Oct 3, 2003, 19:33 The Truth

I got halo today, and it does rock.

Running on a P3 2.4 with a GeForce 440 at 800x600 it seems to run pretty well, although some settings are toned down a little its doing good (Waiting for HL2 before mega upgrade)

As before the thing with Halo is the combat is what makes it shine. It is spot on. It feels 'solid' nice bangs, and it isnt as acurate as other shooters, ie it has an auto target, but it actually works really well.

The out door levels are very good, and once you get into it you tend to sneak around, knock out a number of enemys and then go in guns blazing. very good game, worth the money. I havent played online yet but hopefully should play out well.

watching the intro i was kinda dissapointed with the graphics, youll see what i mean, but once in the game proper its pretty sweet.

BTW Bronco your image link doesent appear to work, i'll wait a bit and if still not working ill email nin. Thanks tho!

Give us an update, Hump - - is it any good? How's it look?

I picked it up on Wednesday and have so far really enjoyed it. Impressions:

-AI is very impressive and very challenging (at least on Heroic Difficulty). I rank it up there with the AI of Thief, NOLF2, and Half-Life.

-Graphics look very good but not top of the line on my mid-range (XP2100+, Ti4600) system. The engine does chug more than it should given the visual quality.

-Level Design is pretty much as bad as it's made out to be. Outdoor levels are still awesome but indoor levels are as repetitive as NWN.

-Gameplay and Combat is where the game stands head and shoulders above anything else. It's difficult to describe what makes the game substantially different from any other shooter but I'll do my best. All of the weapons just feel "right", while all fairly cliche (assault rifle, pistol, shotgun, etc.) they just have a great solid feel to them. Being limited to only two weapons (plus grenades) also forces you to plan ahead as to which weapons you think you'll need. Grenades are nicely integrated in that you right click to toss one rather than have to switch weapons, this has the effect of making grenades a much bigger part of combat. The games health system relies on a shield that will recharge but only after a certain amount of time has passed without you being hit. Many of the enemies have a similar shield system and as a result the combat has a unique flow to it where you retreat when your shields get low but in other situations are willing to charge after a retreating Elite who's shields have given out. All the description in the world can't do the combat justice, you just need to play it on at least Heroic difficulty to truly get a feel of how awesome it is.

-The little multiplayer I'ved played has been good but nothing extraordinary (note: I have only played standard DM and none of the teambased modes). As of right now there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of real good players online as I was able to kick ass and come in first in a game of DM that had already been running for several minutes.

Overall I think Halo is a very solid shooter who's strengths out weigh it's flaws. It's definately worth your fifty bucks even though it may not be game of the year..

Ainh. Could care less about exclusives and so on - Would only support it if it netted Blue a chance to dust off the ol' Bluejet graphic. I come here for the OotB (suburban meanderings, serious topics or otherwise oddness), subversive humour, and the messageboard comments from the regulars.

Oh and the news links are good too.
