Yea, and Star Wars is (gasp) just a movie.
Again, this is not the time or place for a theological discussion of any kind.

No one is interested in your narrow-minded rants about ancient superstitions. jediluke... isn't that quote pretty similar to what Han Solo told Obi Wan about "the force" in Star Wars??
with your nickname, i couldn't resist bringing that up.

you're not going to Heaven, you're going to Hell Mr. Webb, i also am a Christian and my response to your above statement would be "judge not, lest ye be judged yourself".
hardcore tactics and interpretations and the shoving of religion down people's throats serves neither God nor man, and least of all - yourself.
Christian means Christ-Like. Unless you are striving to be Christ-Like, don't say you are a Christian once again, James, "judge not". yes, the perfect ideal of Christianity is to strive for Christ-like perfection. however, the bible states that by merely believing in Christ we are saved, and become Christian.
each of us has our own place here on Earth, and some of us are more capable of certain things than others. i suggest you let God speak to his people and make his demands to them - i do not believe it is up to man to judge and condemn his fellow man.
i understand that you most likely are trying to be helpful and do good, but this is not the place for hardcore preaching and judgement. as i said, i am a Christian - and i participate in these forums without damning everyone to hell. it's not up to me to decide what another man's life is. that is between him and God. i believe in teaching by example. i'll let people know i'm Christian if it comes up, or they ask. i don't hide it. however, forcing my beliefs on other people is a road to nowhere. my best hope is that by behaving well and being helpful and kind to others here, they might someday equate my behaviour with my religious belief system and it will make them think better of Christianity. it was "fire and brimstone" Baptist preaching that forced me to atheism in my early 20's. it was through listening to my own heart and the kind and gentle suggestions of other Christians that i came back to God.
let people walk their own road, offer advice if asked, but yelling and damning them sure won't win you any friends, or converts.

I sure hope a lot of you "lurkers" will now feel free to keep speaking up as time goes by because most of you seem very intelligent and articulate. We need more posters like you to help dilute some of the garbage. Well said.

Now is not the time, nor the place for millitant anything, Christianity - Atheism - "Er I'm not really sure something nice I hopism" or anything in between. Now is the time to empathize and sympathize with an important (virtual) friend who has lost a loved one. Yep, good post Anvil.

Blue,
There are simply no words I can offer you, save to tell you how deeply sorry I am for your loss. Upon reading the news, I cried for you and your family, as did so many of us.
Although I've been a loyal lurker here since the Quake Rag, I have never posted or mailed before, nor am I likely to again. But I felt the need to add my voice to all those who mourn the loss of MamaBlue. Our thoughts are with you.
David
