War of the Ring Demo Next Week

Vivendi Universal Games has announced that it will release a demo for The Lord of the Rings: War of the Ring on September 22 to allow a sampling of their upcoming real-time strategy game based on the J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Word is: "The demo will include two single-player missions from the game - "The Siege of the Iron Hills" and the "Pursuit of Gollum." In both missions, players take the side of the forces of light in their attempt to destroy the One Ring." Thanks Frans.

I actually am looking forward to this demo. The screenshots don't look bad and look to have huge battles. Did you see that helm's deep shot? http://www.3dgamers.com/screenshots/games/lotrwarring/14.html and http://www.3dgamers.com/screenshots/games/lotrwarring/27.html . Battle Realms rocked in it's own way. Liquid went all they can to try to make something new and different in the RTS genre. While it kicked ass, it was casted away in light of Wc3's popularity and hype. It's too bad also because Battle Realms had some of the wicked online RTS matches I've played in

The setting has so much potential, it's almost ridiculous.
I hope Liquid didn't rely too much on it and remembered to make a decent game as well...
Really, really hope this works....
mhmhm *remembering Helm's deep battle scene.....*

Now dotn get me wrong BR is really cool, but it would just be playing the same, I like the level details in WoTR, forests rivers etc, but I dont really like the look on units, they seem to simplistic and boring, even the heroes, WCIII will have an upper hand in gfx departament I'm affraid.

PS: I'm also a huge Middle Earth fan.

Liquid Entertainment are one of the best developers on the block, THEY ROCK. I'm sure that they are doing and AWESOME job on WoTR.

I'm psyched about this demo, looking forward to playing it.

To the guy that doesn't think there is anything new in RTS's these days: WAKE UP! WarCraft III was VERY different, Battle Realms was VERY different, Age of Myth was different Rise of Nations was unique etc.

Each RTS has it's own little tweaks that make it unique. The genre is a little stagnant, no new game of late has been COMPLETELY unique but there are still strong differences between the games that make them compelling to play.

You guys must be on crack. Battle Realms is an awesome game; it was just overshadowed by teh craft. I am certain that WotR will be even better than BR, which is why I am excited about it.

I bet this sucks a lot of ass

There is nothing they can do to RTS games now in this day and age to make them interesting or different

This genre is so played out its not even funny

To get the closest feeling to Lord of the Rings just play Age of Wonders Shadow Magic.

Real time wont capture the battles they did in the movies, you need time to move your forces, have heroes, and all that cool stuff. Im sick of these damn RTS games. this will be just as bad as Lord of Everquest and that SCHLOCK they tried to pass off as Warhammer years ago.
