Halo Status Report

With the removal of the remaining work items list on the Halo Website, Gearbox's Randy Pitchford made a forum post called Halo PC Status describing the imminence of announcements concerning the game's availability (thanks Frans and HBO). Here's the deal:

Expect an announcement about the release date of Halo PC sometime in the next 1 to 4 days.

gearboxsoftware.com will carry the announcement in the forums, on the main pages and will offer other fun materials related to the announcement.

The "Work Items" remaining ticker was removed because there are no remaining work items for the retail game.

The team is working on a number of other things including a demo and some bonus features to be released as an update on or about launch time.

We are having lots of fun at Gearbox playing "Assault" mode in Halo PC. We can't wait for you to be able to join us

Thanks for your participation in the forums and thank you for your continued excitement and anticipation of Halo's invasion of the PC.

I'm looking forward to picking this one up... Out of the 'bargain bin'. There's just no way that I'm going to pay full price for a game that's this old--hype or no hype.

13. where once i was interested... Sep 12, 2003, 12:25 Bard

in purchasing halo - now i am not.

it probably sold a lot of x-boxes - great for MS, but i didn't appreciate that it wasn't released for the pc at the same time or shortly after.

i think HL2 and other cutting edge games will be getting my $$$$.

I'm definitely psyched for Halo PC. I mean, it's an old game, sure, but it's still one of the better FPSs out there.

Besides, I forced my roomate of 2 years (and the biggest Halo freak out there) to play it only when I was out of the house, so as to ensure that I would never see the ending until I played it for myself on the PC. Got all the way to Two Betrayals, gritted my teeth, and put down the controller for good. He'd kill me for sure if I lost interest now...

I'm not even angry. I'm being so sincere right now, even though you broke my heart and killed me.

11. Re: Still good. Sep 12, 2003, 12:10 whatever

I think the reason the game was so hyped for the Xbox, is because it's the only Xbox game that doesn't totally suck.

I'm still looking foward to this.

I am too... looking "forward" to it that is. I never played the Xbox version so I am very interested in seeing the graphics, physics, and AI that everyone has been raving about.

9. Hope my beta build is old!! Sep 12, 2003, 11:49 BlueF

Damn! I hope the beta copy a friend brought over the other night was an old build! Cause damn, did that thing bring my normally zippy P4 2.6 and Radeon 9700 Pro to it's knees!! Running high quality, 10x7 (w/ AA and AF turned off), it still felt sluggish. So much so, that if my copy is a recent build, I imagine I'll be waiting a few more months play through SP, in hopes that a few more patches increase performace to the point where I don't have to start turning down graphic options to play SP at an accpetable frame rate.

Here's hoping!! MP was a blast, once I turned down a few options to get consistent fps.

6. CO OP NOW PLEASE! Sep 12, 2003, 11:21 Mr Gar

Maybe the "bonus features" will include fecking Co-op and a player cap higher than 16?

I’m not going to buy an Xbox no matter how much you handicap the conversion through your shit coding abilities.

Me.
I don't see why having HL2 coming soon prevents you from buying Halo too. I'm looking forward to play both games!

3. Who Cares? Sep 12, 2003, 11:17 Tumbler

Is anyone really still waiting for this game on PC? With everything that has come out and is coming out in the FPS arena, namely Half-Life 2, who is going to buy a game that is several years old?

Who is waiting for this game?
