My Worthplaying download speed was steady between 170-185 k/sec from mirror #1 and was free. Not dissing Fileplanet as I've been tempted to sign up a few times just for the old patch archives and such, but in this case there were fast free links.

Ah, cool

Is it always like that? I went there a few times for some demo (forgive my bad memory) and both that and Fileshack (where I signed up, not for premium though) and was getting like 20k.

Game just installed though, will give it and run and post my thoughts.

...even sent an email to your personal acct to ask if there was any problem and no reply.

That's what I was afraid of... there is a problem, but it's that I have not been receiving your mails. I'm guessing your's are not the only ones I'm losing too.

Sorry about that. Looks like I have some investigating to do.

I might be missing something, but GameSpot doesn't force you to use their download manager. I'm downloading it from the direct download link, just a normal HTTP download, and it's going fine (I'm getting 34k/sec from it, but partly that's because I have a number of other downloads going on too).

Stephen ...

hmm i have been sending stuff/demo links/news for the past 2 days and no linkage at all, even sent an email to your personal acct to ask if there was any problem and no reply.

Even Thomas sent you an email about Chrome this morning and no dice either ...

So i figured i'd try to get your attention this way

No idea whats wrong though, my email seems to be working fine judging by hundreds of the spam mails i'm getting

Bitorrent is cool, no doubt about it, but not for bleeding edge stuff where you're at max upload half the night.

Don't want a flame war, just want to offer a little advice.

Got the demo 198k/sec downloading off of my Fileplanet Premium or whatever the hell you call it.

This thing does pay off sometimes, if you have a spare 10 bucks a month, I'd highly reccommend it.

Hope no one yells at me for saying it, just want to let those still debating about it know it sometimes roxx0rs.

Before you download from Gamespot, read this thread:

http://forums.gamespot.com/gamespot/board/message?board.id=gs_techsupport&message.id=2336

Their download manager has some major bugs.

3D Gamers is probably a safe bet - at least they don't force you to use buggy download managers. >:-(

You can always head on over to Worthplaying ...

Hey Ranier,

Any reason you didn't send this in? I haven't been receiving your submissions lately... are you having trouble with my e-mail, or have you not been sending them here?

I've gotten 300 KB/sec off of some patch on bit-torrent. I usually get 50KB/sec on popular files. For free.

There was only one catch and that was Catch-22

Who knows but that, on the lower frequencies, I speak for you?

Leiawen, that Euro link is the slowest one, you might want to try the US mirror #1, thats the work horse, but gets full the quickest i guess

Thanks for that Rainier, I'm getting about 20k off the Euro link at Worthplaying.
I'll leave both running and go to bed I think. Then its HW2 goodness tomorrow.

You can get this demo at Fileplanet now too. Is it taboo to mention them now?
