First off thanks for all the feedback, both positive and negative, about advertising. I appreciate those willing to communicate about this in spite of their unhappiness, and cannot express enough gratitude to all of you expressing support for what's going on here.

To change tracks, I mentioned wanting to comment on the Sobig virus that's running around the internet at the moment. As some of the reports about this point out, this is a particularly persistent worm, sending out such a flood of mail that at its peak, they were probably rolling in the door here at a rate of 10 per minute. This is all part of the game, but the thing that's making me crazier by the minute is the flood of rejection messages from mail servers and user's anti-virus software warning that I have sent them a virus. Obviously (to me at least) I did not actually send the offending mail... that's one of the aspects of these worms is how they spoof their originating e-mail address, so users and ISPs who try to help are actually causing as big a problem as the original mails to which they are responding. In fact, for someone like me, whose ISP is filtering these mails out at the server level (but they know better than to bounce back these notifications), I'm getting none of the worm mails, and hundreds (literally) of bounce messages. Yeesh.

If you look at it from the dictionary perspective, then yes, but porn stars are not getting paid with the sole interest of sex; this is to say they are not being paid for sexual service, but to film it. We can argue that until we die. What pissed me off is that you are calling them prostitutes, not "Webster defines as" prostitutes, but a direct comparison to actual prostitutes who are one of the most abused niches of humans in our society. This is especially prevalent in the U.S., in fact, the only group of people in the States who recieve on par, human rights abuse-style treatment are the 5 million mexicans living in your country. To say that a porn star, especially one like the one running for Governor, is a prostitute is to imply she has no legal status in your country, no legal rights, etc. etc. etc. You can not, unless you have a single operative brain cell which at the time of comparison has fallen off of it's pedestal, call a porn star (no matter how amateur or sleazy the star) a hooker. You can pull out every damn definition of hooker out that you want, but it does not glaze over, or change the fact you made an extremely ignorant, and insulting comparison between one of the lowest class of CITIZENs (that's right, most of your hookers are bred in the US, or in Canada) in existence, and a professional in one of two professinal positions (stripper is the other) where women out make the men paid to do the same job. I'm not trying to go on an anti-porn or anti hooker rampage, I think both should be legal; I am just suprised that you are so ignorant to assume hookers and porn actresses are on anything close to the same level. By definition, you have democracy in the U.S., and Canada, but we only have one real thing to vote for: Coporate interests. Hauling out a broad definition to support your argument doesn't make it right to juxtapose a, for all purposes, non-human entity, and a respectable citizen of your country. The underlying ignorance to the fact that the two are so far apart indicates a much larger problem, but I don't even want to start.
Fascism: N. A system of government which aims for total control of it's citizens through: religous fervor and sentiment, extreme nationalism, State intertwining with military, media control and manipulation, and marriage of corporate interests with state policies.
That is the definition of Fascism. You would probably deny that the US is a fascism, too, but your be-all end-all definition argument is so compelling, I hope this illuminates a fact for you.

As to know if being in any of those positions (no pun intented) make them sick bitches is irrelevant. you can't judge someone just by his/her job.

if you dont like popups just use mozilla or mozilla firebird(if you want to have the same keyboard shortcuts as ie) and then just dont install flash on it. you get NO popups no content cover crap no sound playing adds you can also block banners. this is all in the default installations of the program too. No third party crap needed. I just use ie now to load flash games, but thats it.

More people don't curse here, but you occasionally will pick up a new word here and there (where the hell did "asshat" come from, anyway?).

Generally, as long as it's not directed at someone else on the board, it's tolerated (granted, there's always exceptions to the rule). Some people don't care for it, and people get taken much more seriously when they post with well thought out comments as opposed to 4 and 6 letter words...

I went whale watching a few months ago, it was spectacular. The only thing I have to say is that it's their own damn fault. You can see a whale breaching from far enough away to know to keep the fuck out of the way, whales also have built in sonar, so if those people got hit, it isn't the whales fault.
