11. Re: Microsoft ex-staffer pleads guilty... Jul 17, 2003, 21:50 nin

Microsoft hired investigators and put in updated systems to uncover violations of internal policy after Daniel Feussner, a former Microsoft manager, was fired and arrested in December 2002 for allegedly funding a lavish lifestyle by selling discounted software for personal profit. Feussner later died in a local hospital.

Was that the one that drank antifreeze? I read one of them did that and killed himself to avoid jail time.

Security notices from Microsoft are probably considered news because when computers aren't updated with the latest security fix, it could adversely affect thousands of people.

I just hate their board layout. It's like 3 million people all shouting at once. Here I can track what's been updated since I last posted. There, it's a total mess.

They get posted on slashdot all the time. Not becuase it is something the readers might want, but something yet again to laugh at microsoft/windows and make fun of.

yes. I saw a db2 ad on a story about Oracle as well from the same site. I think the ads get put on related subject matter stories.

Indeed, though I must admit I'm a bit surprised at news.com carrying security notices from MS as news. The only people who wouldn't have heard the news would be those who don't run windows update and don't subscribe to the security newsletter. in other words those who aren't interested in the subject matter.
