I don't know, I kinda dug DS. It had much better grfx than Diablo 2, and a lot of nice enhancements that D2 was lacking. Plus, the whole party system was fun.

I thought the new DS II video was pretty cool, but those are definitely cutscenes - no way that's actual gameplay.

Amen to that. Blizzards movies in both Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3 are probably the best animated work I've ever seen; game, movie, or otherwise.

D2 is purely about building your character, which I don't 'get'. The only thing that kept me playing the 2nd were the cool movies. In fact, I'd rather get an hour of those movies than most hollywood movies being released today. Blizzard would do a much better job than Sony's FF:spirits within...

Well at least Blizzard doesn't seem to think Diablo 2 is perfect because they keep patching it I'll admit that in most games I skip over the story.. If you want a good story read a book

To be a perfect game Diablo 2 would need a half decent story, some character development, something bordering on the remotely plausible as far as the gameplay is concerned...

Don't get me wrong - I enjoyed D2 and DS, but I think they are far from 'perfect'.

Nothing to see here... move along. : P

Seriously, I'm not interested in installing any sort of download client either. Went ahead and waited for the stream to buffer and ads to finish before watching the short video. Mostly unremarkable CGI and a few in-game clips.

Not much of a teaser.

so I tried to stream it and catch the file out of the buffers so I wouldn't have to install the spyware.. The image quality was so poor i ended up installing Kontiki, downloading it, deleting kontiki, and running ad-aware. I am not knowledgeable enough to definitively state that Kontiki is definitely spyware, but ad-aware seemed quite familiar with the program and told me to get rid of it and it's little registry strings too.

I bought DS the the day it came it. It's still the closest thing to Diablo 2, but it's not nearly as good. I too got bored with the very linear gameplay. The graphics were great, though. I have high hopes that DS2 will be more like Diablo and less like DS, with more enhancements to boot.

Diablo 2, as it stands, is almost a perfect game. What hinders it the most is its graphics. The cheating is also a huge problem, but if you pick who you play with then it isn't an issue. I'd love a Diablo 2 game with awsome graphics, more classes and character customization, and tons and tons of items!!!!! And please, PLEASE, someone make a game where you can ride animals! I'm tired of walking everywhere.

I found Dungeon Siege was fun to Hack. I found a japanese sight that I could not read but it had a item list template so I could give my characters Lizard helmets, Beast shields (the one with the teeth), molten boots and gloves, unique armor. I had a of the zapped of the zapped dragon wing sword (not a type-o). It was a more fun game this way. Leveling sux.

Microsoft insists that all of the dramatic sequences in the trailer are rendered completely in-engine and represent the advanced capabilities of the Dungeon Siege II graphics engine.

Sure, in game engine, but scripted and rendered ahead of time. No way it'll look like that when you're playing.

They are promoting Dungeon Siege II at the same time as they are promoting the expansion pack for Dungeon Siege? Maybe they'll be smart enough to release them at the same time as well?

Sometimes I wonder if publishers really understand the concept of marketing...

True, DS wasn't the most complicated game in the world, but I found it enjoyable in spite of that. Having said that, I'm surprised those scenes were rendered with the engine. WOW!!! Games are getting closer to CGI quality. Now all we need is Virtual Reality headsets and maybe some sort of sensory feedback devise that enables us to 'feel' the world hands on. THAT would be kewl!

Yeah, I played the demo and got really bored before I even finished it. Couldn't bring myself to buy the game. It was just a repetitive clickfest.

If only they could make DS2 less repetitive then the first game, this could be great.

ps: Does that kontiki thingy install spyware of any kind?
