Personally, I'd rather play Jedi Academy or Knights of the Old Republic, where I only have to cough up money once, rather than monthly.
If they expect people to pay monthly, then they need to lower the purchase price of the CDs so that it's worth it, rather than forcing you to cough up $40-50 dollars up front and then turn around and dish out another $15 the next month. Yeah right!
agreed. I could understand charging $20 for the game up front to cover development costs but the greedy bastards want it all, profit on the purchase and the monthly fee. Its as if they aren't confident enough that the thing will be good enough to maintain a steady income.
anyway, I went to EB this morning to pick up Elite Force 2 (too dam hot to work outside today) and there was a few guys who were there to pick up Galaxies. They all agreed that the game "wasn't that great right now" but sheepishly admitted that they've been in the beta for so long that one guy said he felt "naked" not being able to play (they only did a character wipe, what, 2 days ago?).
Maybe in the Fall when the cost of entry has been reduced to something approaching reason I'll give it a go. Right now I've got plenty of games to play.
(speaking of games, EB is a doing a 50% off their older discounted games. I grabbed Starlancer for $.75 cents and Anachronox for $4.50)
