Jedi Academy Q&As

TheForce.net's Games Jedi Academy Q&A (thanks Devster) is a conversation with Raven's Kenn Hoekstra discussing the upcoming Star Wars shooter sequel, learning about the Xbox version, character creation, light sabers, multiplayer, and more. Meanwhile, Kenn has also subjected himself to more questions from aspiring game developers in Gaming University: Volume XVIII on GameSpy.com. One of the questions in the first Q&A concerns the always hot topic of cooperative multiplayer play, and in spite of Kenn's answer seeming affirmative, it confirms that this will not be part of the mix: "Capture The Flag and Team Deathmatch are cooperative multiplayer modes making a return in Jedi Academy."

If you can swing us another 6 months to a year of development time per project, we'd love to add co-op.

Hey, hey, hey, you ship when you're ready, man. Don't let the big bad publisher push ya around. Tell your publisher us gamers don't want patches any more than you guys have to spend making them!

No worries Kenn, I'll still buy it.

I just wish some developer, at some point, would make an effort to make a coop version of their game again. You can only coop serious sam so many times before it gets bleedingly boring, and in my opinion coop is a ton more fun than any other version of multiplayer (although things such as Assault are good enough if you can do them against bots.)

WW3, your host attempts to install gator, never a good thing if you want your project to succeed.

???
Project?
Installing gator can be because it's a redirect url, you should have a popup killer installed (or use Opera).

*edit* Hadn't noticed Kenn's post:
Could we just keep the meaning of the words "coop" and "team" seperated, please. Have a cup of coffee before processing these Q&A's

Hey guys,
It just dawned on me that that question was referring to "can you play co-op through the single player missions?" Okay, so I'm slow... I wasn't trying to be a dick with that answer. I thought the question meant "can I play co-operatively in multiplayer with friends?" To me, that's CTF and Siege and Team DM. So... To answer the question:

Co-Op = No
Team MP = Yes

Playing through the entire single player game with a fellow human player, the objective being to kill as many computer controlled monsters / stormtroopers / adversaries in as stylish a way possible

Team Deathmatch = Not the Coop.
Capture the Flag = Not the Coop.

Seriously Kenn...

No I can't imagine playing coop with a laggy dial up bitch, all my m8's have ADSL and I would not even think about playing coop with a modem user. So does this mean coop games should not be made? LOL get real m8

I'd be playing SP Co-Op with that Star Wars Kid (yes you ALL know the video) and he'd end up killing me by accident while taking a swing at a r2 unit.

"I think it would be better if they allowed both sexes for ALL of the races."

I'm sure this is just a time issue. I imagine the choice of sex/race will have no real effect on the gameplay. Though, now that I think about it, this would be an interesting way to implement difficulty levels;...

I believe he was making fun of how the question was answered because he made a long list when he could have simply said what tangledthorns said. ZING!

I'm sure this is just a time issue. I imagine the choice of sex/race will have no real effect on the gameplay. Though, now that I think about it, this would be an interesting way to implement difficulty levels; have, say, a race that's not particularly force-adept be the harder difficulty level, while you could run through the game as a Yoda or whatever for the easiest difficulty.

TFNG: What species’ will we be able to pick?

KH: You will be able to choose between Human male or female, Rodian male, Twi’lek female, Kel Dor male and Zabrak female during the character creation process.

I think it would be better if they allowed both sexes for ALL of the races.
