Armed & Dangerous Preview

The Armed & Dangerous preview on Games Domain offers impressions of LucasArts' upcoming PC and Xbox action shooter that's being developed by PlanetMoon Studios. Here's a bit on the presence and absence of some signature PlanetMoon features:

The thing that made Giants so successful (well, besides accomplished graphics and balanced gameplay) was a cracking sense of humor, which shone in the scripted cinematics. Planet Moon has kept that intact, once again relying on snappy, off-color dialogue largely delivered by British voice actors. One element of Giants that won't make a return is resource harvesting, as A&D moves at a much faster pace. And yet, there's the troubling presence of sheep, which indicates that something unexpected may be afoot.

I saw a trailer from this game, and man, I was really blown away. The game looked WAY better than what my expectations for it were. I hadn't really heard of it or followed it until I saw the trailer, now I'm probably going to buy it. That corkscrew weapon just looks too cool to pass on!!

I thought the humor in Giants was a bit too crude and pedestrian (They talked about on old man's testicles!) I prefer the subtle mockery of NOLF's jokes... But I guess that's just me.

I dunno... did the movie feature a giant corkscrew weapon called the Topsy-Turvy which you plunge into the ground and hang onto for dear life while the whole world flips upside down leaving your enemies to fall into the sky, before flipping back upright again whereupon they all plummet back helplessly into the ground?

I really hope this isn't another movie tie-in game.
