Scientific American: Bottled Twaddle -- Is bottled water tapped out? is an article on bottled water (thanks Mike Martinez), and some misconceptions on the subject. I saw the episode of Penn and Teller's show that this references, and it was a shocking insight into suggestibility, not to mention funny as hell, watching the dinner patrons remark about the different qualities of various bottles of water that just minutes earlier were being filled from a tap... through a garden hose!

R.O. water has a 1:1 waste to product ratio with the current filters that are out. When you go to wash the glass you just drank out of, you waste 4:1. So, you tell me what is more wasteful? The fact is: To clean anything(your car, clothes, boat....etc.) you have to waste water or how else do you make it clean? Water is cheap and it's the "universal solvent" so use it and keep things clean, don't listen to the liberal environmental ninnies.
