I'll admit, the first level or two of Deus Ex was boxy. Usually the people who say the level design is boxy, or the a.i. is bad, usually only played the demo or the first level. (same thing) I can understand how some retard could get frustrated by not being able to finish the first level, and then cry about the levels being boxy.
Fact is, Deus Ex was WAY more innovative than Half Life. What did Half Life really do that was any different than Sin, except squash all the bugs before they shipped? Don't get me wrong, I loved Half Life, but as far as innovation? Come on...
Biomods, lockpicks, that awesome wrist crossbow, your ability to get good with big weapons, or sniper weapons, or hacking, but NOT all of them, plus the mod choices you had to make...this game (DX) absorbed me like no other has since SS2, and like none has since it's release.
If you want to run and gun in DX, you CAN, just not at first when you are weak in all skills. If you want to sneak, you can. If you want to blow up robots, you can.
I honestly believe that if you think this game sucks, you never really played it, or you tried it and got frustrated early.
