Maybe that will develop with time (after all, it's up to the players) but right now, and for anyone starting new, it can get boring, and fast.
Exactly. I was a tester for the last 2 months. I was hoping that EVE would turn out to be as cool as Elite and Tradewars 2002. But they have currently turned it into a huge waste of time. It's still buggy as hell (thanks to the publisher's decision to release it too soon), very laggy, nothing is balanced properly, combat still sucks, it's laggy, the market is still a work in progress, many important features have not yet been implemented or haven't been tested, still experience node crashes and crashes to desktop, it's laggy, gameplay still doesn't seem well-designed (they seem to be rushing around changing things and just hoping for the best), it takes a major time committment in order to be even remotely successful at the game, most of the professions that are touted are not really viable (mining makes money, most everything else is either buggy or just not worth it), did I mention it was laggy (people lose their ships and equipment to lag constantly, and then it's back to mining again to try to make enough for a new ship). So yeah, EVE has a lot of potential. SSI just screwed the pooch and released it a few months too soon. If they had kept working on it and actually gotten the gameplay fairly well balanced out so that you could actually make it somewhere in the game without treating it as a second job, they could have had a great game.
