Battlestar Galactica to Consoles

Another chapter from the embarrassing "I used to love that show" files comes by way of this press release (thanks Frans) announcing that the 25th anniversary of Battlestar Galactica is being celebrated in part by a game based on the science fiction TV series planned for the PS2 and Xbox this fall. Here's the deal: "The 'Battlestar Galactica' interactive game is a story-driven space action-adventure that takes place at the end of the Cylon-Colonial Wars, 40 years prior to the setting of the original TV series. In the game, players will assume the role of Ensign William Adama in his critical first assignment as a pilot aboard the great warship 'Battlestar Galactica'. It is the turning point of the war and the tragic making of a hero."

Was the freaking bomb in its day. I loved that show (yes, I am a geek), despite the fact that the Cylons always turned right, and always got hit by the sixth laser blast shot after them. (Hehe, you gotta love those shows that have a grand total of five combat shots, and repeat them over and over and over and over again).

Two best ever BSG moments : The second movie, in which they hook up with the other surviving Battlestar, which had that kickass razor / lightning cannon which shredded Cylon cap ships like nothing, and that one episode where Starbuck crashes on a planet and is eventually left behind (one very moving episode) because the crew thinks he's dead.

I always heard some rumors that there was going to be an episode or a movie about what happened to Starbuck on that planet, but never saw anything.

A game would probably be cool, although as someone duly pointed out below, it would be Wing Commander.
Which, ofcourse, is not a bad thing at all

My Favorite episodes had the guys from CHiPs whre they came to Earth.

I believe our friend might be referring to the travesty known as 'Galactica 1980', whose name should never be spoken aloud. Oh damn, I just spoke it aloud...

I got a survey a few months ago asking me all these questions about what I thought of a potential BSG game, and what would be cool, etc.

I'm freaked now. I saw the Sci-Fi trailer and thought, "Looks cool." Then I heard the bit about Starbuck changing gender. Er? What?

But now a game??? hmmmmm.... I'm a little freaked now that my comments may have driven potential development of this game. Weird.

BSG 0wns.

But I don't have a console, and the miniseries that Sci-Fi is working on sounds like teh suck. A remaking of the original show? A female Starbuck? WTF!?!?
