I get both CGW and PCGamer at home, but neither copy has arrived yet. In fact, I think last month's issues just came in about a week or two ago. So it might be awhile before the next ones get in. Grrrr....
Anybody happen to get their PCGamer or CGW already? Damn magazines, they used to tell you all the way at the back when the next one would be available, but I guess that's a thing long of the past.
Oh well, they're talking Xmas, which means sometime 2004 most likely. Doom3 and Deus Ex2 will be here before then, and quite frankly, I don't think Valve will have what it takes to beat Deus Ex2

Really, you hit somebody over the head with that thing and you know the socket is gonna go flyin' across the room.
Then what? You just pop on another socket! Surely she's carrying a whole set.

there are plenty of scanned images .. you just need to find them.. think of the many less reputable gaming news sites on the net that would have images posted.. think.. think hard..
..then there are the even more less reputable ("more less reputable"! ha! great english!) sites on the net.. I came across one of them that has a preview of what he saw at the NYC Valve press conference... some interesting changes to FPS play as we know it... when in doubt google it...

All right! SCREW COPYRIGHTS! Somebody scan the articles and post them SOMEWHERE!
Btw, are people already getting their PCGAMER's in the mail? I usually don't get mine until a couple days into the month.
And, it appears, that THERE IS A GOD!

The new issue of Computer Games magazine just dropped at the EB where I work and there's a 4 page Half-Life 2 spread in it. Here's a couple of tidbits. Thanks. Now I can't wait to get home from work!

I was just about to ask if they used the team fortress mod as their standard multiplayer for Half Life 2??? Or are they trying to have many "editions"??

A ratchet?
What does she do, tighten you to death?
I know one of the add-ons (Op4) I think had a pipe wrench.

HL2 in Computer Games |

The new issue of Computer Games magazine just dropped at the EB where I work and there's a 4 page Half-Life 2 spread in it. Here's a couple of tidbits.
1. The released is quoted as being before September 30th of THIS year.
2. If you haven't figured it out already and still believe the rumors then I'm here to tell you that the game will NOT be XBox only. It's coming for the PC baby!
3. The new engine is designed to be competetive, not ground breaking which means a) loud-mouth technophiles will proclaim the game dead before launch and b) the other 99% of us won't likely have to shell out major money for a new system (Doom 3...ahem). The game will apparently be able to squeak by on a 700mhz processor with a DX6 compatible Video Card, while the optimal spec is quoted at 2ghz and a GeForce 4 or equivalent card.
4. The screenshots look great. If I had to compare it, I would put it just above Unreal 2 and just below Deus Ex 2.
5. The game is going to progress completely in first-person just like the original so don't worry about poorly directed and hastily thought out 3rd person cut-scenes here. It sounds like there are more defined characters than in the first, but still keeping it slim and based around a survival/action-adventure theme.
6. The story assumes Gordon Freeman (yes, you play Gordon) decided to go with the G-Man at the end of Half-Life as opposed to allowing himself to be annihilated by a horde of marauding aliens as was the other choice. Apparently it takes place in a fictional location in Europe known as City 17 and one of the important characters appears to be the daughter of one of the scientists whose name is Alyx...the girl seen in the promo art so far released. |
