In case anyone is interested,
we've been running a forum for ArenaNet for quite some time. But, we recently moved the site over to the main domain. Although we only have a small number of forum members, we do recieve regular visits from the Guild Wars developers.
You're welcome to visit us at

This is not a MMO its going to be a real 3d version of diablo. Did you see that they are not going to charge. Also it does not allow for more then 8 players so it nothing close to an MMO.

They've probably got deals in place with North American ISPs to provide the connections. When you log on, you get a AT&T logo or something, then the game starts. Who knows? Fact is, they're making a free MMORPG. Woo.

and pigs can fly... i can´t imagine how this could possibly be a valid business model. where does the money come from to pay the people wich produce the new content and the hosting/traffic?
besides as an european i feel really a tad "pissed". why should all the others pay a montly fee if the people in north america can play it for free ?

I don't know how they managed to make a free MMORPG. What I do know, however, is that my character just defeated a lich in the 42nd level of the Microsoft dungeon and got a killer pair of Nike +1 shoes!

Forgive me if I missed it, but I don't see "Massively Multiplayer" anywhere in that press release. They claim "large head-to-head guild battles"... 64 players is "large".
We'll find out in a few weeks, one way or the other.

I don't know what to make of this. Are these former or current members of Blizzard? If former, then was their some kind of exodus from the company? If the latter, is their talent splitting its attention?

Hell, don't forget it's some of the guys that were involved with the creation of battle.net. I'm sure they'll have ISP sponsors and such, but I don't doubt for a second that they can pull it off. Looking forward to it.

Hey nin, I just read every page of the website, and it just sounds better and better!! It DOES sound too good to be true, though, so maybe the retail price is $300.00 or something, lol...
