Kreed Beta Sign-ups

Those feeling the need for Kreed will want to head over to The Burut Website where they have posted the registration form to sign-up for the beta testing of this upcoming first-person shooter. They will be accepting applications for the next two weeks, and plan on announcing the names of those who are selected on May 1. Thanks Frans.

Actually it *WAS* made off the quake 1 engine... if you look a lot of the commands are the same, and it handles many things similairly.

"That was the quake 1 engine, and they made it look better than most games using quake 2."

It was also made of the Quake 2 engine.

Go figure.

why do you think they are writing their own engine?

Valve spent years making that engine TF2 is running on, remember a demo of TF2 was sent to ATI awhile ago so they are still using that engine.

"Jeez, what was Jason thinking?"

It probably had something to do with Monolith being a small developer and not having the deep pockets of the Sierra/Valve combo.

Oh, and about Half-Life 2, why do you think they are writing their own engine?

Valve stole the original Lithtech engine author from Monolith years ago, apparently offering him a lot more $$ than Jason was paying him.

I'm all signed up and hoping to go...

This looks like it could be an exciting addition to an already exciting year!

Oh, and about Half-Life 2, why do you think they are writing their own engine? I'd be willing to bet they use the Quake 3 engine, and then mod the hell out of it like the first half-life. That was the quake 1 engine, and they made it look better than most games using quake 2. I hope they do license instead of create an engine, so they can spend more time doing what most people don't bother to do these days, create a great GAME.

Enforcer, it's not bad, but it's not as interesting as I hoped. I'm not much into MMO games anyways. I actually never expected to be accepted into the beta.. it's the first one.

Also add Thief 3 to the list.

6. Int'l Phone Numbers? Apr 17, 2003, 15:51 CableGuy

I registered, because this game looks cooler'n school, but I had no idea how to phrase my phone number in international terms. I'm American dammit, the world caters to ME! Seriously, anyone know how to properly give our number in case the Russkies need to call?

Do any of these companies doing betas actually call anyone? I've been in a couple beta tests, most I did was check message boards and get an email or two.

Forgot to add Elite Force II and Half-Life II. I expect an announcement from Valve at E3 or right before. And I'm willing to bet that they will be using a completely new engine they wrote.

It's not that it's that BAD necessarily. It's just really boring to be honest. I've played it several hours, and I don't think I've ever done so much and accomplished so little. To me at least, it's the gaming equivalent of valium. Might appeal to some people, but just not much fun to me.

I signed up for this beta though, so hopefully I'll get in...
