Unreal II Patch

As noted on the official Unreal 2 message board (thanks HomeLan Fed) in a post by Legend's Craig Lafferty, a new patch is now available for Unreal II via the in-game auto-updater, accessible by selecting "Check for Updates" under the Unreal II folder in the Windows start menu. The thread offers details on the numerous fixes, changes, and tweaks in the new version.

Yea I hate how the plot ended up, sure didn't make me feel like a hero. I beat the game pissed off.

The patch worked for me! I was getting an annoying ammount of crashes to the desktop, which i guess must have been eax related, because I added the patch and havn't crashed since.

On a related note, I'm not sure why everyone is bashing this game, I had a really good time with it. My only complaint is that the plot is cheesy and the game is WAY too short.

Why waste your time posting on a gaming forum...morons. The protestors and the supporters will never see eye to eye nor will one change the other with your knowledgeble opinions. Leave the useless banter for the reporters.

Now, post something I can use. Did anyone see an improvement with the patch. Worth the update or not.

54. Re: Unreal II joystick support??? Mar 30, 2003, 13:15 [A3D]Tomcat

Yes, I have it working fine. You have to change three things.

1)Default.ini change to: UseJoystick=True

2)Defuser.ini and user.ini change to:
JoyX=Axis aStrafe SpeedBase=2000.0 DeadZone=0.2 Invert=-1
JoyY=Axis aBaseY SpeedBase=2000.0 DeadZone=0.2 Invert=-1
JoyZ=
JoyR=Axis aLookup SpeedBase=2000.0 DeadZone=0.0
JoyU=Axis aBaseX SpeedBase=2000.0 DeadZone=0.0
JoyV=
adjust the values to whatever your preference is. Lower numbers make movements slower, higher is faster.

3)Assign all joy buttons manually in Defuser.ini and user.ini. POVs do not work unless you use a program like RBjoy.

Mine:
Joy1=Fire //Stick Index trigger
Joy2=Jump //Stick Lower Thumb button
Joy3=AltFire //Stick Upper Thumb button
Joy4=Duck //Stick Pinky trigger
Joy5=NextWeapon //Right hand 4-way hat switch UP
Joy6=SwitchWeapon 2 //Right hand 4-way hat switch Right
Joy7=SwitchWeapon 3 //Right hand 4-way hat switch Down
Joy8=SwitchWeapon 4 //Right hand 4-way hat switch Left
Joy9=Use | OnRelease Unuse //Trackball lower inside button
Joy10=Reload //Trackball lower outside button
Joy11=InventoryPrevious //Upper trackball left
Joy12=InventoryActivate //Upper trackball center
Joy13=InventoryNext //Upper trackball right
Joy14=
Joy15=
Joy16=
JoyX=Axis aStrafe SpeedBase=2000.0 DeadZone=0.2 Invert=-1
JoyY=Axis aBaseY SpeedBase=2000.0 DeadZone=0.2 Invert=-1
JoyZ=
JoyR=Axis aLookup SpeedBase=2000.0 DeadZone=0.0
JoyU=Axis aBaseX SpeedBase=2000.0 DeadZone=0.0
JoyV=
JoyPovRight=
JoyPovLeft=
JoyPovUp=
JoyPovDown=

Hope this helps.

53. Unreal II joystick support??? Mar 29, 2003, 22:25 Atomic1

Has anyone worked out a way to use a joystick with Unreal II? My son has succeeded in modifying the config file to accept a Panther XL joystick. The trackball does not work on the Panther XL, but the joystick works. Other Unreal games either supported or could be made to support a joystick for us old joystick users.

Urg, here's me thinking that this is gonna be an interesting thread discussing the potential merits & pitfalls of a U2 patch, and I end up waltzing into yet another opinionated discussion on war.

Newsflash: DISCUSSING THE WAR ON AN INTERNET FORUM AIN'T GONNA MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Christ, even Blues ain't safe from this shit any more.

Gore wasn't much better, and we'd probably still begging the U.N. to let us do something about 9/11 had he been elected. And Lieberman? Please! We all as gamers whould hate that man with a passion. But I say rock on to the guy who talked about talking with our vote. That's the way this country works, and it's beautiful. Now if they'd only limit congressional terms like they do the Presidency...

But, now that the war is under way, I support the troops and will keep my mouth shut until after the war.

This is exactly what I mean. Had our chance, now it's on.

I knew would happen the moment Bush came into power. He and his cronies have been planning this since before he became president.

I think everybody did. I still cannot believe this guy got into office. Apparently it's 'Thrice bitten, still not shy.'

my opinion is: we have to support the troops.

At the end of the day, we have to... they are fighting for our side, afterall.
I appreciate an intelligent response, thank you CN
Not to say that there aren't lots of intelligent posts, but in response to my ranting, that's impressive!

I was going to stay out of this ridiculous debate over Iraq. However, you ASSHOLE have pissed me off. This is the USA, people have the right, and the duty to protest that which they believe to be wrong. I am a Vietnam veteran. And personally, I believe that without the protests of the 60s which finally got parents of kids who were being sent over to start questioning the war, we might still be fighting in that country. You don't like the prostests? Tough shit! I disagree with the Bush administrations policy with regard to Iraq. And I let it be known before the war started, which by the way, I knew would happen the moment Bush came into power. He and his cronies have been planning this since before he became president. But, now that the war is under way, I support the troops and will keep my mouth shut until after the war. Then I will speak with my vote in the next election. Diplomacy should have been given more of a chance to work than it was given. Period. But, since it wasn't, then my opinion is: we have to support the troops. That does not mean we have to support Bush or his little band of merry men. Or his policies. To go along blindly believing everything your government tells you is to be a sheep. BAAAA BAAAAA!

Thanks muchly, DL link. I only have dialup at home, so even a 4mb download is a pain in the ass. This way I can download it at work on the T1.

I've been playing Unreal II on just about the same machine as you. With the exception that I have 1gig of DDR PC2100 RAM. The game plays awesome! The graphics are superb. However there are some issues with EAX, and other little performance issues that I hope this patch will address. What kind of mb are you using? I have an ASUS A7M with the AMD chipset. Ut2k3 also plays and looks awesome! Especially after the latest patch and bonus pack realease.

Whoa whoa whoa! Guys, I realize we all feel real strong about what is going on but remember this:
War is a part of what happens in our world, as much as we wish it wasn't. This is just a school yard fight times fourty billion.

Why can I say this? Because I'm from that god forsaken country, alright? I've probably lost more family in that fire fight then any of you self-indulgent fucks would even think, but I don't want to know about it until it's over. Why? Because there is no point in me putting my life on hold, or even experiencing a fucking speed bump in my life because of what a bunch of assholes got themselves into.

I am not ok with the fact that there is a war going on, but now that it has started I know as well as the brass that it has to go the full monty or else the opposition (Iraq) will rear up and take a large chunk out of the US, 9/11 style.
Fuck any folks who protest this war now. The way I figure it: You had your chance, nobody listened, now it's on and you can't stop it.

To all you protesting motherfuckers who think you can make a difference in where the world takes us, fuck you. You self-indulgent, over-hyped, wishful optomists. Fuck you, your signs, your little charades of care. Fuck your charities, fuck your 'rebuilding efforts', fuck every last cunt that thinks they can help to make a difference in this world, you can't depend on anyone! The only person who can help you is yourself.

Everyone in it? Get real. Far from it. It's a shame they didn't (or couldn't) take the opportunity to leave in the time they could have, given the advance warning. If they chose not too I would would wonder why the hell not. And if Sadaam's ass clowns kept them from leaving, I'd say its yet another reason to remove him. How can you pretend Sadaam could be removed by anything other than force?

Second, I apologize for any attacks I have put out. I've been on edge throughout this thing. Being a former military member myself it enrages me to see some of the chicken shit protesters walking signs that say rediculous shit like "we support troops when they kill their officers"... referring to the grenade incident apparently. It's easy for pussies to talk shit from their comfy homes. Agree or not, its rediculous to wish harm on your own military.

Anyways, the next few days will determine what exactly shithead has in store for us. I hope the innocents get the fuck out if they have any sense. With their guerilla tactics he's deliberately putting more innocents into danger.

A.) I find it amusing you accuse me assumption, then you yourself not only assume, but you assume contrary to what has historically *not* happened. I like that. It's like grasping for logic, where there is none.

B.) No, I'm not saying your *views* are wrong, I'm saying the logic that you use to get to those views is not thought out. Also, the government fakes information all the time, it's called "disinformation", and is a tactic they use. Consider that.

I linked to that picture to illustrate something. Saddam didn't kill that girl. Saddam didn't drop a missile on her doorstep. We did. How the hell can you think you're going to free a country by killing everyone in it. Assuming that her parents are still alive, how grateful do you think they're going to be that we liberated them by raining bombs on their head, and killed their child?
