Just want to say how some of us Canadians feel....Last night I was at the Calgary Flames vs Phoenix Coyotes game - when the US National Anthem started - the crowd erupted in a huge ovation that lasted for almost half the song - it was very moving. I have never been to a game (in Canada) before where the crowd cheered (positively) so loud during the US Anthem. I guess I can say that the crowd at last night's game support's the US.

Ever hear of the commandment:
"Thou shalt not kill"?
Anyone who supports this war is going against god.
America is a worse human's rights violator then Iraq....far worse. Mr. Franks and the American Propaganda machine can lie all they want, but the majority of America is not buying it. Your planes are being shot down by farmers with rifles, 20 soldiers have been captured, nearly a hundred killed...and your country lies to you about the deaths in Afghanistian. Everyday, 5 soldiers die there...the death toll is now at 1500. And you thought that was a cake walk too, eh?
I suggest Mr. Spanker (Such an appropriate name) read this site here to learn the truth:

W.W.J.D.??
MY grandfather was a WW2 vet....he is against this war. Most Veterans are. But gee, can you blame them? With congress having depleted funding for VA hospitals and using over a 100 billion for a war....it seems reasonable.
We are losing this war, and we will lsoe it. It is another Somalia. Our troops retreated from Basra out of fear and confusion.
As for the geneva convention, our government broke it a heckuva lot more often then any other nation, check this out mr. know it all:

Wow. Now those are some hardcore snuff flicks... I'm surprised Blue has allowed them to sit there for this long. They do deliver a good point, if not a relavent one. The point is that us humans are truly a sick race overall. Why? Because not only do we perform these atrocities, but then we have people who propogate them through a media form. It's like televising executions, or court cases. Blantantly disturbing.
Also, anybody who is looking to join the military should look at these links, not for educational purposes but to jade themselves enough for what they may see on a battlefield. And you thought Saving Private Ryan was rough...

From: The Falklands Alternative America’s motive for invading Iraq http://homepage.ntlworld.com/steveseymour/subliminalsuggestion/falklands.html
"Unfortunately the entire exercise was a complete lie. The CIA knew very well that a February 1990 US Army War College report concluded Iraq was not responsible for the Halabja attack, stating it was the Iranian bombardment that had actually killed the Kurds.' The War College findings were hardly surprising: the Kurdish people of Halabja were killed by a war gas known as "Phosgene" used by the Iranians but not the Iraqis. Though Iraq did use war gas on the battlefield it was "Mustard", an entirely different chemical which causes death in a visibly different way, enabling US Army chemical warfare experts to easily identify the attack as Iranian in origin."

Uhm, but how am I supposed to know if the images are something I want to see until I actually see them?
Trust me, you don't want to view those movies that were linked to. I only watched half of one of them before I turned it off. I'm still trying to shake the images from my mind.

Because Saddam's palaces are very well lit. Don't forget that Saddam has an entire authoritarian state apparatus underneath him, as well as quite a number of sons. In other words, just killing Saddam wouldn't get rid of his regime.
Also, for anyone to say that criticism of the government is "anti-american" is missing an essential point: criticism of the government is American. This country is based on checks and balances (whip out that high school civics textbook if you don't remember), and many American servicemen and women have fought and died precisely so the American people can be free to voice their opinions, whether or not they agree with what the government that they elected is doing.
So don't call people that oppose the war "anti-American." You sound more like a fascist than a person who claims to support one of the most free nations in the world.

First, a warning to people on the site: Some of the posted links contain VERY distrurbing images. You may want to skip the links.
Second, to the author (or poster, rather) I don't see any point to your post other to shock and horrify readers of this site. You've added nothing constructive to the discussion by doing this, nor does any of the posted material support a pro-American position.
YOU make ME sick by posting graphic depictions of human tragedy for your own sick gratification. |

Why the US didn't opt for a splinter cell or a lone mercenary is beyond me. I understand Saddam is a difficult target, but surprise is a great element. I personally believe that if Bush had buttered up the despot and then dispatched a few CIA operatives or even et up a black bounty on his head we could have avoided blowing up all these historical buildings... *shrugs* Another war comes and goes. I'm kind of upset we didn't jump into the fray but honestly, why would the US need more then their own army to take out Iraq? 400,000 troops armed with AK-47's and rusted tanks, versus cruise missiles, B-52 Bombers, and an innumerable foot force? That's like Mike Tyson versus a Bowl of Ears.
And yes, I am cursed (blessed?) with terminal cynicism. I'm wondering how long it will be until America's Army produces an expansion pack to recreate this episode in our time.
