>Of course, I doubt that will stop you from spreading the Ariel Sharon "quote" as if it was undisputed fact, much like you've already been doing.

Is that because you know me so well?

And why haven't you said anything to the people on here that were spreading "Iraq gassed their own people" as if it was undisputed fact even though we've known for several years now that it was Iran that gassed them?

Indiv,

Thanks for the links. Very interesting. I hadn't seen that info before.

JM,

No, actually I got busy with work and this is the first chance I've had to come back. All I'm interested in is the truth, not character attacks. Indiv gave links to info that may or may not prove me wrong and he did it without having to resort to childish name calling and/or stereotyping. I'm now responding to him in the same respectful way.

If only the rest of you could do the same.

Hmm. Babar is usually so quick to point our mistakes. I guess indiv's last couple of posts have got him working overtime doing Google searches for obscure websites to debunk the debunking.

Regardless of the news sources on the "WhatReallyHappened(Inmyparanoidmind)", the small quotes to the side of each story show a propensity for the webmaster there to get a tad anti-semitic. Is he based somewhere in Montana or Waco Texas?

Funny you should ask that question. The guy in charge of that conspiracy site is Michael Rivero, btw.

A reader emailed me some material on Michael Rivero that had previously been posted on both Free Republic and Indymedia. One item in particular caught my eye, and that is Rivero’s relationship with something called the Special Forces Underground, an anti-Communist, anti-Jewish, white-supremacy group run by retired Green Beret Steven Barry. Rivero maintained copies of the group’s newsletter, The Resister, on his old, now defunct, website, The Rancho Runnamukka (see email dated April 6, 1998)

His response when confronted with this issue is interesting:

In point of fact I was never an editor for the Resister. I merely posted the newsletter as received. And, as onorous (sic) as the statement "created by white men for white men" may be to modern sensibilitirs (sic), that was in fact the philosophy of the foubnders (sic) of the nation, as evidenced by their treatment of the natives.

I think a more "unbiased" site is:

You can't argue with crackpot conspiracy theorists, but I dug up some links for the rest of you concerning the alleged Sharon quote. Feel free to believe or disbelieve at your discretion--as always, don't believe everything you read, either for or against your own position.

"CAMERA received confirmation from Kol Yisrael political correspondent Yoni Ben-Menachem, who reports on Cabinet meetings, that he never made such a broadcast and that Sharon never made such a statement.

For more on the misquote by Georgie Anne Geyer, read CAMERA's “Syndicated Columnist Georgie Anne Geyer Uses Fabricated Sharon Quote.” The misquote also appears on many anti-Israel and hate sites."

http://www.camera.org/index.asp?x_context=7&x_issue=373&x_article=373

http://www.camera.org/index.asp?x_context=2&x_outlet=6&x_article=34

Specifically concerning the quote's use on that conspiracy theory site:

Anti-semitic means you don't like jews. He doesn't like Israel's policies. I'm sorry if you can't see the difference.

And if you don't like his commentary then ignore it and go read the articles he links to.

"I want to believe" - poster on Fox Mulder's wall

Do you beleive that the "Final Solution" was a good thing, babar?

Regardless of the news sources on the "WhatReallyHappened(Inmyparanoidmind)", the small quotes to the side of each story show a propensity for the webmaster there to get a tad anti-semitic. Is he based somewhere in Montana or Waco Texas? The paranoia exhibited on that website is amusing, but scary when I consider how thoroughly some people believe in all of the "plans within plans" and conspiracies that he rants about.

WhatReallyHappened is just a collection of links to articles from Media from all over the world. It has links to articles on CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX, MSNBC, USAToday, BBC, Pravda, and many many other media publications from pretty much every country around the world. I don't think there's a wider variety of more reputable sources out there. You can't blame WhatReallyHappened for what is contained in articles from the media from around the world.

Just because a site calls itself, "whatreallyhappened", does not necessarily mean that what it reports is "what really happened". I realize that, for you, whatever appears on that site is taken as gospel. However, not being a sheep, I tend to draw my own conclusions from a somewhat wider variety of more reputable sources.

"Anyone who supports this war is going against god.

"

Really? wow - that's a profound statement - so does that mean if I drive a car - I'm going against God - because the oil may come from countries that kill people....does that mean if I where clothes - I'm going against God - because some of the material or where they were made was by countries who have people that kill? etc...etc....

Give me a break....

Bravo! Nassus I love your post. I have that mp3 and listen to it once a day, and just laugh my ass off every time.

That mp3 is typical of peace necks, actually these peace necks posting, are trying to get laid by girls like her. "How does leaving Saddam in power ensure peace to the Iraqi people?" Peace-neck: "umm..... duh......ummm.....doh....umm........"

We could classify the peace-necks, one would type would be the naive little girl in the mp3, the other is naive little boys trying to get laid by her and the next is their love bead parents trying to relive their 60's heyday and the last is their old bitter socialist grand parents(bitter raisins that never give you a smile).

Thought this was funny.

Peace Activist Etiquette

With all of this talk of impending war, many of us will encounter "Peace
Activists" who will try and convince us that we must refrain from retaliating
against the ones who terrorized us all on September 11, 2001, and those who
support terror.

These activists may be alone or in a gathering.....most of us don't know
how to react to them. When you come upon one of these people, or one of their
rallies, here are the proper rules of etiquette:

1. Listen politely while this person explains their views. Strike up a
conversation if necessary and look very interested in their ideas. They will
tell you how revenge is immoral, and that by attacking the people who did
this to us, we will only bring on more violence. They will probably use many
arguments, ranging from political to religious to humanitarian.

2. In the middle of their remarks, without any warning, punch them in the
nose.

3. When the person gets up off of the ground, they will be very angry and
they may try to hit you, so be careful.

4. Very quickly and calmly remind the person that violence only brings about
more violence and remind them of their stand on this matter. Tell them if
they are really committed to a nonviolent approach to undeserved attacks,
they will turn the other cheek and negotiate a solution. Tell them they must
lead by example if they really believe what they are saying.

5. Most of them will think for a moment and then agree that you are correct.

6. As soon as they do that, hit them again. Only this time hit them much
harder. Square in the nose.

7. Repeat steps 2-5 until the desired results are obtained and the idiot
realizes how stupid of an argument he/she is making.

I love how that "what really happened website" is so completely distrustful of the US government's statements, and yet it takes all Iraqi statements as fact.

Obviously, while that website screams about the US government using the war to gain oil reserves and such, the website seeks to profit as much as possible by scaring people into thinking there are conspiracies behind everything the US government does. It's also abundantly clear that they are staunch liberals.

Another thing is that they are very much anti-semitic, or maybe they just don't like Isreal while it has a conservative government? Either way, it reminds me of these mass-mail letters that some guy from Montana used to blanket everyone's mailboxes with (when I lived in North Dakota). He complained of the "Jewdicial" system and how Jews ruled everything, etc. It's ironic that this website would be aligned with racists like this person. I work with Jews, and had a Jewish roomate for a while, and I can tell you that if they rule the US, they sure do work hard to make it seem like they don't.

I'd be interested to know if that site has archives. I'd like to see some of its coverage of the conflict against Milosevic's regime.
