Out of the Blue

Be gentle with me... I'm a Giants fan...

Just one more week to go for the Sopranos... now I don't expect a complete wrap-up of every issue brought up during the season by the end of the year, but it seems like it will take a miracle to prevent this from being the worst example yet of leaving a frustrating number of loose ends dangling... at this point I've pretty much given up hope that they can even manage to make this all seem tied-up by the end of next season (not even counting new cans of worms to be opened), if it is indeed to be the last. Seems pretty likely that predictions that this will ultimately end up played out in a series of movies are correct.

Happy Birthday Redwood! I'd say how old he is, but I'd have to cut him open to count the rings (I'll never get tired of that joke).

If I recall correctly, the packaging will be slightly revised, but still not what I would consider ideal. Even more fuzzy in my memory, I believe that the U.K./European markets will get some type of plastic case/holder for the sets...

DS9 is certainly the most...unique of all the Star Trek shows, but that is why it is so great. Or so hated...

Wondering which route they will take with the next ST (after Nemesis) movie,
Ray

>>> Alas, we still get the crappy packaging...

If you're referring to Next Gen packaging, I have to agree. When I bought Season 1, it was like "How the hell does this damn thing stay shut?"

I never watched any of DS9, but I might have to give it a chance, come Feb...Voyager I'm not touching. As far as I'm concerned, that series never happened.

"Did #50 scare anybody else?"

Nope. I share those sentiments. I spent a lot of time on Stomped's site its last 2 years. In contrast I mostly lurk here. I remember when Vangie came on right at the end. I was happy she was back online after the demise of AGN3D, but alas it didn't last either.

I'm quite surprised Red is getting by on IT contract work with how bad the economy is for IT right now. He really got lucky. Many had to switch careers. I was unemployed for the better part of a year, but lucked out in the end, although I'm still not making what I was in 2000 yet. Fortunately I'm guaranteed to surpass that by the end of next year (I'm one of the few, the proud, the union IT guy!)

67. Re: what games you playing? Dec 3, 2002, 20:00 Ray Marden

Well...

1. Shenmue II is better than the first, but still a slow, slow game. It is great in the overall world that it presents, yet you become bogged down in just moving about and interacting with the world. It can be too real in how boring/tedious some things can be. If you can get over those aspects, it is a good game...

2. Unless I am mistaken, Finaly Fantasy is still very much a PS2 series. Yes, it does stretch its wings in the PC market now and then and has the little branch going into the GC pond, but Sony is where you will be playing any/all FF games for some time.

3. Look at the games for all the systems and go from there. I have all three (four) systems, but they all have obvious benefits and drawbacks. Nintendo is certainly the most creative, Microsoft has the hardware capability, and Sony has all the games. I do not mean for this to come off in a bad way, but I would hate having to be forced into picking only one system.

Blabbering,
Ray

As nin has already pointed out, DS9 is on its way. Similar to TNG, presumably with a more even pace, the entire series of DS9 will be released throughout all of next year. Alas, we still get the crappy packaging...

I have to take back what I said about Babylon 5. The second year already has a tentative release and is likely to come out quicker than Stargate: SG-1. I presme SG-1 is just taking longer due to DVD (releasing) inexperience and/or trying to maximize the syndication results.

I will only purchase Voyager to round out my collection; only somebody like...like...Brandon could ever love that show.

Not having anything worthwhile to say about AC ;),
Ray

How's Shenmue II?
I've been thinking of buying a new console and after recently finding out that Final Fantasy is going to Gamecube in a few games....My sights have shifted from PS2 to X-box.

(Also about the picture: Well said Snide. Astronauts beat the pants off of my usual schizofrenic tirade.)

The T-Shirts aren't *that* long on the market, are they? since 97??

Nope. The photo was from 97 - taken at the E3 gaming convention/expo.

And Blue doesn't wear a T shirt in the picture... so this whole "T-Shirt" hinting business is not to the point...

The point of the 'T-shirt' is a reference to the shirts that are for sale that have Blue's face is on it. Well, a graphical representation of it anyway.

And no Starsky, #50 didn't scare me, but I'm not Blue so why should I worry?

i just want my ds9 love. the only star trek show that bothered to have a seasonal plot and storyarc (voyager does not count, because other than the end brackets you could have jumbled the episode order however you wanted).

ps: i bought asherons call yesterday, im a sucker for a pretty game, hope those monthly boosters can liven it up a bit.

Still faster than the molasses-like Stargate SG-1. The Simpsons already has two seasons out with the third one tentatively scheduled for April '03.

Thinking only Babylon 5 may go slower :),

Out of all the big genre releases (X-Files, Star Trek, etc.) it is moving the slowest.

I'd argue The Simpsons sets are moving pretty damn slow too... what, one a year it seems?

Are these endorsed by Julius Peppers?

Nope, they are endorsed by a 'Russian' guy with a bad hairpiece and super cheesey videography (think of a real bad early 80's infomercial). I laugh every time I see them.
