Out of the Blue

A little out of kilter here... I caused a couple of disconnected moments when the dreaded F.M. reared its ugly head, but I managed to take advantage of the relative quiet yesterday by installing a wireless access point on the network here in the BlueTower. The WAP I got actually was pretty determined to be the main router on the network, providing Network Address Translation for all the client machines, but after going through the installation, I was able to re-tweak it so that the wireless router is just another node on the hub, and it all seems to work just as I want it to. This is not exactly the time of year to take a laptop out in the backyard and enjoy some outdoor computing, but in the meantime, the benefits of having wireless access inside the house will have to suffice. Along the way I learned I have an "Aornum" spyware program on my computer. I guess I got to experience the ups and downs of modern computing in one fell swoop.

What the HECK? Ads have frickin' soundtracks now? I load up Bluesnews and my web browser starts playing music at me...

That's going way, way too far...

Even Flash has now been twisted to do the bidding of the forces of evil...

I hope Jackson isn't doing Mr. Potatohead experiments on his children too, if that would even be legal. Bruh.

Sick fucking bastards. They try to dress it up as if it's an educational tool, but it comes down to making a fast buck of of people's grief.

That's just what I'd want in my house, yet another high frequency signal beaming through my body at close range.
between your microwave oven, cordless phone, cell phone, high tension power lines, your wife's hairdryer (I'm not kidding), and now your WAN. You'll grow a healthy dose of tumors I'm sure

Don't forget cosmic rays

2. Blue's WAP! Nov 20, 2002, 10:05 nin

Blue, make sure you're got some security and encryption on those wireless points. I know a user at work who took his bluetooth enabled laptop home and could magically surf the net. Why? Because his neighbor had a wireless network setup.

Then there were those wireless keyboards in Europe I read about awhile back that were actually sending data to the neighbor's computer next door. That was here:

Wireless security really needs to happen quickly...
