I just wanna give everyone a little insight into why the Sikhs are upset at this game. For those of you who are American, let me pose a scenario. Lets say a game came out in the next couple of years and the mission of the game was to hijack a plane and crash it into the World Trade Center. Would you be upset? Or would you say "Oh thats freedom of speech. I got no problems with that."
In 1984 the Indian Army stormed the Golden Temple (the temple portrayed in the game) on a Sikh holiday and thousands of innocent civilians were killed.
Now I'm all for freedom of speech. But you got to understand that these Sikh groups aren't taking Eidos to court over this and asking the courts to censor them. They're asking Eidos to recall the game. It would be censorship if Eidos were being forced.
And as to the comment saying
Hmmm... They conducted terrorist attacks in the 80's and a bit into the 90's. Weren't they trying to get an independant state in East Punjab or something like that?
I'm not saying there followers are currently terrorists but they had a radical arm not very long ago. Didn't they kill the prime minister of India at that point also? They certainly weren't a "harmless" group.
To put it in your terms the Irish have a radical arm. So they certainly aren't a "harmless" group. In that case niether are white American males. Look at Tim McViegh. After Oklahoma City, did any "patriots" go out and kill random white guys because they look like Tim? No but after 9-11 a lot of random brown guys got killed cause they look like Osama.
Again, I'm not arguing for or against a recall of the game. If Eidos decides to voluntarily change the game or recall it, so be it. But I don't think they should be forced to. I just want to let all you know why the Sikhs are upset since a lot of you are missing the point.
