There's nothing arguable about XCOM: Defender's cult status, it's one of the games, along with MOO2 and Civ that made Microprose great.
The sequels, of course, are an example of why that company is no longer with us...

...I never got into X-Com the first time around, but it would be nice to see if a developer could update the classic for the market of today.

indiv id doubt fraxis would do something like that, they are very much a strategy game developer and in their short history have put out some great titles in the genre. personally i think this is the most perfect developer match the xcom series could get.

I hope, if they really are going to make a new X-Com game, that they stay true to the original with the research and manufacturing and base development, etc. If they're going to just use the license to sell a standard rts or fps then I'll cast my vote to just let the series fade away.
