Battlefield 1942 Gold (Really!) & Ship Date

Electronic Arts sends word that "Battlefield 1942 for the PC will ship Tuesday, September 10, 2002." Recalling the recent confusion over whether the game was actually gold (story) or not (story), I wrote back to inquire about this (which would be easy to assume from that ship date, but there's been enough confusion about this already), and received a confirmation that the game is indeed gold.

If you're having choppiness or framerate dropoffs, or what seems somewhat like lag, then try setting Sound Detail to Low and enable sound Hardware Acceleration. High sound detail has been shown to be responsible for many of the slowdown problems some have had.
