I absolutely LOVE this game. Only Tribes2 approaches the fun I had with the scale of combat. Here's hoping they release a Vietnam expansion pack.
Here's my list of issues I had with the game over the weekend:
1) TK jackasses are a MAJOR problem on most servers; voting isn't the solution, and 'backfire' isn't fair. The DayOfDefeat (and AmericasArmy) handle it right - if you get TK'd you can Forgive, Punish, or SavePunishmentForLater. Accidental TKing gets forgiven, but jackasses get kickbanned if they piss off too many people. 3strikes and you're out.
2) The "newbie" problem - perhaps it would be a good idea to allow for an overhead command mode where certain players can be the General? The n00b would see on his screen that the general his ordering him in the direction of the BIG ARROW ON HIS SCREEN.
Another n00b would ordered to hold down the fort. etc.
3) There should be a PILOT class. Period. Everyone fights over the planes!!! In Tribes2 people fought over the "think you had to stand on to make a vehicle", but that was more managable because would wait their turn. Not so in the case where you have to wait a few minutes for one of two or three planes to spawn. There's too many morons who just wait on deck to get a plane that they don't know how to fly anyway... and if you get in first they shoot you... or they put landmines in front of you.
4) The only time the game seriously lags up on me is when on the aircraft carrier with multiple people on deck and multiple planes overhead. Must be a lot of UDP traffic.
5) Game randomly crashes to the desktop in the same resolution I was playing the game in. Every half hour or so this happens.
6) 60Hz gives me a headache; they'll obviously fix this bug fast since a lot of people are bitching about it.
7) Sometimes I lose the mouse pointer when I'm supposed to choose a spawn on the map; hitting ENTER gets it back.
8) I had to manually map my sidewinder joystick to the aircraft controls; there should be a way to automatically get default settings.
9) The Bazooka doesn't have any splash damage.
10) Falling overboard off the ships leaves you stranded for too long. You CAN press 'e' when you're under a lifeboat to get back on though. Maybe Sharks should eat you after 10 seconds?
11) Need option for blood and gore. The SP game had an unofficial patch for this though.
I'm running XP Pro / Geforce4mx 440 / AMD1.2Ghz / 512MB
Can't wait for the final release of this game!
(guess I'll mail this list of issues to the developers so it doesnt go to waste
