actually germans never ever try to forget what happened during ww2. If you ever had visited germany and esp the concentration camp memorials that still stand to remind the people what horrible things happened during ww2 you would know that this is by no means the case.
Instead after ww2 a law was passed to secure that by no means nazi ideology should be spreaded by media (simply put). This included presentation of swastikas.
This is not to avoid offending anybody. Entertainment and Nazis are two things that, according to the government, should not be brought together. I'm not expecting anybody to accept or even understand that, but that is the way it is. The Holocaust was the darkest and most horrible period in Germany's history and they think it should not be used as a scenario in a computer game.
While i personally think that this is correct, i find it not very reasonable to show movies like indiana jones while at the same time Wolfenstein3d is banned in germany.
But thats the current situation here and it won't get any better as long as there are idiots around sticking up for what the nazis did.
