Quake III Arena / TA v1.30 Patch

As promised, id Software has now released the final version 1.30 patch for Quake III Arena and its Team Arena expansion, and naturally we have a local copy with mirrors of the 25.5 MB download online, but you can also use the auto-updater for a significantly smaller download. This version brings a handful of minor bug fixes and consolidates the changes introduced in the previous point releases.

Your not the only one experiencing troubles. I'm completely disguested with this point release. The number of bugs are so bad that I've gotten to the point of not playing. Also,
it seems like every dam server is running custom maps making it impossible to find a good server. My video output is generating Ghost players and or don't see other players.

This version causes my whole system to just about lock down on net play. Single player works fine, but net play results in severe lag...popping sound, & jumping frames on all servers. I feel like I'm on a 300 baude modem instead of DSL. I am running 800mhz PIII, 256 RDRAM, A GForce3 Card, and online play is dismal. The only version I really liked was 1.17

Can anyone tell me what I've done wrong? Obviously, some of you are getting somewhat acceptable play.

It's not a page, it's an ftp server, and it's maxed out all the time. Use a real ftp client that retries a lot of times, or... uhm... just go to one of the idstuff mirrors around the world that haven't updated yet. Such as:
ftp://mirrors.aol.com/pub/pc_games/doom/idstuff/quake3/win32/q3pointrelease_129h_beta.exe

Frans, I get a "page cannot be displayed" error no matter how much I try that link. What else should I try.

Anyone know where to get 1.29h? 1.30 sucks bigtime. My mouse wheel won't work again!! (just like the old 1.16 days) Baahhh!!! Then they keep giving us those worthless 'pro' maps. What a joke. Anyway, 1.29h anyone? Gotta have it to play some mods, where is it?

439 kb for the updated maps, wow , what a compiler?

9. 439 KB minipatch AVAILABLE! Sep 28, 2001, 05:47 maf-soft

Hello Gamers!

I did it again:
Quake III Arena 1.29h to 1.30: Only 439 KB instead of the original 25.5 MB download from Id- Software!

Download here:
http://www.maf-soft.de/update.html

Of course, this small patch creates exactly the same files as if you would install the complete 25.5 mb point release over an existing 1.29h installation!

If you need an update from other versions (i.e. 1.27g to 1.30), please tell me.

Note: I have also some minipatches for other games available, for example the latest Counter-Strike version.

8. yup, thats it Sep 27, 2001, 23:59 anon@63.239

Finished playing, and it has the same old bugs, plus a few new ones. Same old lag on player connection bug which is the most annoying. Plus a few new repetitive sound bugs, and on q3ctf2, the red base yellow armour is jacked up. In many ways this version feels like an unpolished demo... *shrug*. Anyway... seeing how this is supposed to be the final version of Q3A, I'm gonna go find another game to play, since I doubt the problems like these that ruin its gameplay will be fixed.

5. Final? Sep 27, 2001, 20:36 anon@24.18

Finally. Now they can concentrate on bigger and better things. I think Quake III got worse as time went on. I liked 1.17 before everyone started cheating. Now everyone's default server rate settings cause every server to lag to shit or the physics get all messed up. So much for "optimized netcode"...

And the game is now so diversified with so many shitty mods that I can't find any good CTF4 servers anymore What happened to DeadOfQuake3, XS4ALL, Angry Youth, etc??

Well, still downloading, but if the change list is all that they did, then this release isn't going to be any better then the 1.29x series. *sigh*
