Quake III Arena v1.29h Beta Released

As promised (story), id Software's Robert Duffy updated his .plan to announce that the version 1.29h patch for Quake III Arena is now available, albeit only for Win32. The file is available from their ftp server (25.5 MB) and you should also be able to upgrade via the auto-updater. Here is a local copy with mirrors, and here are the details:

The 1.29h point release is up. You can auto-update to it from 1.29f or 1.29g or grab the whole sha-bang from our ftp. The Linux version will be up asap. This is STILL a beta, we plan to go final with it after QuakeCon.

Changes

- Fixed Server exploit
- Fixed Mouse wheel
- Fixed NT 4.0 Sound
- FPS Boost
- in_mouse set to -1 will provide 1.17ish sensitivity, in_mouse set to 1 will provide current sensitivity

Logitech wireless worked with 1.29f. H only works mouse wheel down. New bats and works in other progs. Go figure!

Same - I still can't connect to some servers - get "unpure clinet - or invalid pk3 files referenced" I sent a bug report to id to instaed of stating "invalid pk3 files" list them. That way we can delete them and try again without having to re-install from scratch...

I don't like patches that break, or makes the game too lame to play, so I'll skip the www.unrealtournament(now didn't we rip this idea off of Q3A).com

I've been using these patches for a while now. It just makes you wonder why more software companies don't use diff's to distribute patches.

thankyou for the service. kicks ass

9. No need to download the full 26 mb! Aug 1, 2001, 03:52 maf-soft

Hi Quakers!

I did it again: I have used my own differential patching software to create a smaller patch file for Quake III Arena 1.29h beta.

Instead of downloading the original 26 mb file from Id-Software, you can use my 700 kb (!) download if you have 1.29g or 1.29f installed!

Of course, the results are exactly the same. And there are also patch files from/to other versions available.

This is true. I've tried both, however, and still can't connect to any servers. I've written to Activision Support, and hope to just hear back, regardless of whether they can actually solve anything. :/

Man, I've been sweating this since Sunday, never ONCE even thinking that it would be my router (RT311, btw). Why would it be? I didn't change a single thing! I can only hope that Id fixes this soon...

if this patch is a "Make QIII Not Suck" patch. Cuz they've needed one since the game's release.

Thanks Robert!

Now only if I can use it to connect to servers out there behind a NETGEAR 314 router. Lots of people are having this problem for the past 2 days or so.
