I'm enjoying the Witness but so far it feels a little over hyped, it feels more like an 8/10. The main problem is there is no story or plot in the game. This makes it feel like your only goal is to run around and solve maze puzzles for 30 hours.

If it had an actual story or mystery to solve while you were solving maze puzzles it would feel more complete.

The environment is mysterious enough for me. I usually prefer a narrative but I actually don't miss it at all here. I think if this caliber of puzzle game were more common it wouldn't have had as much hype, but there is only like one or two of these every few years - and The Witness is quite a bit better than the last couple that have come out. Talos was fun, but even with a narrative I found the gameplay got tedious about halfway through.

Every day at works since I got it, I look forward to getting home and chewing a little bit more on The Witness.

Oh, yeah can hardly wait. Got a three day weekend set up. I bought the game plus season pass for just under $55 off GMG. Looking forward to a couple hundred hours of game play over the next few years. Have you heard what they have up thier sleeves as far as the Long War modders? I think they have a mod in the works already.

Firaxis did a panel at PAX South this weekend about XCOM 2 modding with the head of the Long War team.

The mods they will have ready for launch are pretty small, as expected since they've had less than half a year to work on it.

Quick summary:
New SMG class of weapons that give you bonus to movement and makes you less likely to be detected.

Muton Centurion

Soldier class can become leaders, similar to LW officers. Only 1 leader per mission. Receives new tiers of abilities, similar to how psionics worked in EW.

As for the modding side of things, they're basically releasing every available asset in game and some pretty powerful tools for modders to play around with. It's going to be awesome.

Despite its simplicity The Division isn't a bad game, maybe they can fine tune some things before retail. I really hope they have a plan to deal with cheaters for the PvP portion, like send them all into a cheaters lobby where they can try to out cheat each other.

Funnily enough enjoyed the Division more than I expected too. No DZ without friends though, when one of us was solo away from the others he got ganked pretty quickly. But it was fun, except when things got crowded and suddenly there were many accidental rogues.

Hate the inventory UI, combat will get really repetitive, aiming sucks (right click into aim mode, press tab and experience a momentary loss of vision when scope mode is enabled, reorient yourself).

Loved the weather effects. We had an almost accidental rogue incident where I needed to hide from other for ~ 10 sec and very low visibility snow storm helped a lot at that time.

After few days of playing it was felt by our small team that we may end up buying it, but not pre-order.

XCOM2 this week will be fun fun fun I hope people will mod the hell out of it with interesting ideas.

Thanks for the info, Creston and Yifes. Hopefully their XCom 2 mod is as good as Long War was. I'll admit I got a bit over hyped for XCom 2 so I stopped watching the videos. I was starting to feel as if they were giving a bit too much info away. With XCom 2, The Division, and then Dark Souls 3 all back to back I am going to be having a great time gaming.

Shok, thanks for the heads up. I haven't play Grim Dawn in years. I better take another look.

Make sure to check out Grim Dawn also. It's digital crack. Full release is coming in February after years of early access. I've only been playing for 3 weeks, have 80+ hours into it and haven't even played 4 of the classes.

They've actually got the Long War people working on the mod already, with the actual game's design tools, and I read somewhere that the plan was to have an initial version of the mod out when the game releases. They are very much aware of how well-loved the Long War was.

They're much, MUCH more mod-friendly this time around

Yeah, but I don't remember Guild Wars 1 having a large instance in which you could create a team on the fly and roam around, just bumping into and fighting multiples other teams in an open area (this is what was available for the beta, anyway). Guild Wars 1 PVP was instanced, and you waited in a queue to play a match against another group. This is more open boxy type, more traditional MMO PVP area like. Your character also has a separate level system in the PVP area and if you die you can lose only items to your attacker that you have found (but not 'extracted' yet) in the PVP area. You also lose some PVP cash and experience. Your single player campaign 'half' doesn't get touched.

Sorta, but they use the 'phase tech' like WoW Wrath of the Litch king. So when I enter the community zone I just walk in and people are there. I leave back to the city and it's just me and my group. But you can still hear events going on in the dark zone from other players, I just imagine the gates are there to prevent griefing.

Is The Division a MMO? Did you join up with the group of four at random?

Not an MMO, more of a persistent online game. You only see other people in certain "safe zone" hubs with quest-givers and shops, the actual open world is instanced with only you and up to three others in your group running around with NPCs

Kind of like Guild Wars 1 then. MMO hub, instance open world.

There must be a LOT of cheaters in CS:GO, people keep buying that game so often. Quite a few ban waves from what I hear, clearly it's financially viable for Valve and the cheat program coders.

I'm tempted to buy XCOM 2, but I think I'll hold off for a few months, the queue is looking ridiculous right about now.

Not an MMO, more of a persistent online game. You only see other people in certain "safe zone" hubs with quest-givers and shops, the actual open world is instanced with only you and up to three others in your group running around with NPCs (well, I guess a fifth player can sort of participate with the mobile app thing?). The Dark Zone is a much smaller, walled-in area, and entering it is basically a semi-seamless transition into the multiplayer mode.

Tomb Raider on there three times. Wonder if you combined those sales it would be number 1 instead of 2,4 and 9. Kinda skews the worth of ranking.

I think that's a bug. Sometimes these lists show separate entries for different SKUs of the same game when all SKUs are supposed to be represented by a single entry. That's probably what's happening here.

Playing the Division on the PS4 Beta and loving almost every minute of it. Think I may get it on the PC but using an XBONE controller via USB. Glad I gave it a chance because it's a great mixture of 3rd person shooterand MMO. I ran the dark zone solo for hours and had a blast. Got ganked half a dozen times but most of those were idiots killing me while attaching my extraction bag of contaminated goodie.

I had a 2nd character at level 7 with a dark zone level of 11 going on 12 after about five or six hours. Of course you're starting at level 4 upon entering the beta area. You can level in the dark zone fast. And yeah while shooting rogue agents you sometime get flagged as rogue yourself. Think it's a bug.

Last night I started a third character and used the match making and went dark zone. It is drop in drop out if you don't have it set to friends only.

Had a blast hope the servers are still up when I get off today.
