I don't even know wtf you guys are arguing about anymore... Metaphor tangents, yay!
They cut it out the last minute for whatever reason.
Because of that Elite didn't deliver on promises.
I called bullshit on his assessment and now everyone is upset. Especially the troll

You work in vfx? Maybe I know you. Where?

Of course it is a big fat lie.
You seem very passionate about this, and again I haven't followed this much.
BUT - the reasonable analogy that I make is that I told a client I will build them a new room in their house for $5,000. If I get $10,000 I can build that room in half the time. The client then gives me $100,000 and says to build a completely new wing. The clear assumption there is that the new wing isn't going to get built in the same time frame as the original $10,000 room.
No?

That's the best you have? Your argument is Superweaksauce™ and you know it. CIG can't be expected to build the same game they were planning for $6m when they've raised $93m. If they simply pocketed the extra money and delivered the original game people would be screaming fraud.
Delays happen. Get over it.

While I don't think these where 'promises', I do still think they are just some of the very many times that Chris Roberts as out right lied to the backers.
Chris Roberts is a deceptive, scummy man.
I have little opinion of this game one way or the other and even I think referring to delays in a game's development as "lies" is a serious stretch. Especially when I do development for a living.

In fact the game has expanded to such a degree that backers are getting substantially more than was originally promised.
They already haven't. CIG have broken Kickstarter promises left, right and center and, yeah, there will be way more to come when you really sit down and compare the entire pitch/stretch goal list to whatever will be playable one day.
While I don't think these where 'promises', I do still think they are just some of the very many times that Chris Roberts as out right lied to the backers.
Chris said this (September 2013) -“The more funds we can raise in the pre-launch phase, the more we can invest in additional content (more ships, characters etc.) and perhaps more importantly we can apply greater number of resources to the various tasks to ensure we deliver the full functionality sooner rather than later.”
"Full Functionality sooner rather than later" - He lied, He knew he was lying, He did not care, He just wanted more money to play with.
Chris also said this (June 2015) -"Will it take longer to deliver all this? Of course! When the scope changes, the amount of time it will take to deliver all the features naturally increases. This is something we are acutely aware of."
"Of course" - That's him callingpeoplehis fanbase fools for ever believing his lies. He is just trying to justify taking more money and more time for him to piss away on his poorly managed 'game'.

I love it when people talk about ELite Dangerous not delivering because one thing they've promised was cut. Nevermind about everything else. Some of you guys need a serious reality check.
Or just quit this whole gaming as a hobby thing because it is clearly not for you. Try bingo or chess or some shit like that.
I tell you I'm going out to get a mushroom, pepper, and sausage pizza, and you give me $10. And I bring back a mushroom and pepper pizza with no sausage, you'd be fine with that? And if you complain, I can tell you I delivered everything else so shut your pizza piehole? And just quit this whole pizza-eating thing because it's not for you? Try a Hot Pocket or Pop Tart or some shit like that?
Again I find it interesting that you also complain about ELite yet you do not own it, or plan to buy it.
But hey don't let me stop you complaining about it cuz why not.
Do I think Elite devs should have delivered everything they've promised, sure they should have but just because one thing got cut it doesn't mean the game didn't deliver like some suggests.
We'll see if the other space sim dev will "deliver" on every single thing they've promised.
I don't own it, but do plan on getting it once ORCV1 is release. I've said that before. That being said, if it had launched with SP, I would have bought it last spring.
Regardless, the point isn't whether I own it or plan to, but the logical fallacy. You guys are acting like it's no big deal, and I'm trying to point out that it is. You're literally saying, "Stop complaining, you got your pizza didn't you?"

Cutting offline was the only sensible thing to do. They did the right thing but should have both seen it sooner and told people about it sooner.
I do not believe there was any malicious intent on Frontier's side, however.
