Out of the Blue

Had a couple of sporting events to watch last night, so I haven't yet gotten to the debut episode of Blunt Talk, the new Patrick Stewart cable series. That belies my enthusiasm, as I am greatly looking forward to this. The early reviews seem positive, and my high hopes are completely intact, though I'll keep my fingers crossed just for good measure.

Eh, we won't have to do it for much longer anyway. Luxury cars already have the automatic parking, it'll trickle down to regular cars soon enough.

Haha... no, I kind of ignored what I thought I knew about what I should do and took a clean slate approach. I ended up backing into the spot at a sharper angle than usual, which seemed to do the trick.

I marveled several times that this triumph came right after my comment about my deficiencies in this area.

I moved out of the city right as I learned to drive, and have had to do so about 12 times in my life, as it is not a thing that happens in the suburbs.

That said, we drove to the city last night, found a very small spot, and I nailed it like a pro first try.

Glad it gave you the opportunity to rant.

It's a pet peeve of mine when someone won't learn to parallel park (properly, consistently, and quickly). You're just NOT a responsible driver if you can't do that. My main issue with it is that it really just indicates an overall lack of driving skill & practice - and it says much more about one's capability for spacial awareness and reasoning when behind the wheel than it does about simply being able to park in certain places.

People who can't/won't learn to parallel park are almost ALWAYS BAD drivers in all the other ways that require the same skill set, which are much bigger problems than parking itself when it comes to safety, comptetance and courtesy. They usually also have major problems judging the distance between their car and other objects around them, which is a huge safety problem.

Frankly, it's worse than drunk driving in the respect that it can easily be learned by anyone competent enough to be driving in the first place, and at the very least drunk drivers have the excuse that their judgement is impaired enough to not be able to know what they can and can't do while intoxicated...

I wanted a refund for Assassin's Creed Rogue but it was part of a group purchase. Valve didn't let me refund just one game. I had to request a refund for the entire purchase. I don't believe Steam sees 7 games; they see 1 purchase. While I requested a refund for 3 purchases I only got a refund for 1.

So technically I only got 1 refund out of HUNDREDS of purchases. I'm not a villain.

If you keep that up, I would expect them to eventually step in.

Why would they step in? I only requested a refund for 3 purchases. Middle-earth is 1 purchase, Cities: Skylines is 1 purchase, and the Assassin's Creeds is 1 purchase. Steam isn't going to ban my account for requesting a refund on 3 purchases especially when my account is in a good standing (not banned from anything) and I've made hundreds of purchases over 10 years. I'm a good customer. Why would they want to lose me?

You tried to get a refund for:

Assassin's Creed II: Deluxe Edition
Assassin's Creed II
Assassin's Creed II - Deluxe CD Key
Assassin's Creed 2 - Mac
Assassin's Creed Revelations
Assassin's Creed Revelations
Assassin's Creed Revelations - Standard Key
Assassin's Creed 3 Standard Edition
Assassin's Creed® III
Assassin's Creed III - Standard Edition Key
Assassin's Creed Black Flag Digital Standard Edition
Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag
Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag - Standard Edition Activation Key
Assassin's Creed - Rogue
Assassin's Creed Rogue

$63.45 Total. Mostly because of the UPlay bullshit. Because of it Ubisoft lost a $63 sale. How's that DRM working for you now, Ubitch? If I was an investor I would tell them stop using DRM shit and use content delivery platforms like Steam and GOG Galaxy. DRM is old, outdated, and lambasted by developers and consumers alike. It's time publishers get rid of DRM forever. Nobody likes it!

Cities: Skylines Deluxe Edition
Cities: Skylines
Cities: Skylines - Deluxe Pack
Cities: Skylines - Soundtrack
Cities: Skylines - The Architecture Artbook

$26.79 Total. An hour of gameplay told me I am no longer a fan of SimCity-styled games. I just can't get into them anymore.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Captain of the Watch Character Skin
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - The Dark Ranger Character Skin
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Test of Power
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Hidden Blade Rune
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Deadly Archer Rune
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Flame of Anor Rune
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Orc Slayer Rune
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Rising Storm Rune
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Lord of the Hunt
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Test of Speed
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Test of Wisdom
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Endless Challenge
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Berserks Warband
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Blood Hunters Warband
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Skull Crushers Warband
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Guardians of the Flaming Eye
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Flesh Burners Warband
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Bright Lord
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Season Pass
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor - Power of Shadow

$24.99 total. I don't know why I bought this game but the 0.0 hours played reminded me to get a refund.

If you keep that up, I would expect them to eventually step in.

Kxmode, I think you should really start to think twice before you spend money, sounds like you don't even think what you are doing and you just press buy.

It's no wonder that you just about spent a grand on Star Citizen.

You keep using the refund system like that and I would not be amazed to see them just flat out refuse you all refund if not to just decided not to do busness with you any more.

So I clearly struck a nerve with you. So which game did I offend this time? Shadows of Mordor perhaps? Or was it Cities: Skylines? No, wait, I know... had to be Assassin's Creed. Yeah that's it wasn't it?

P.S. This is the first time I used Steam's refund. I had this account for over 10 years. Probably bought more than $1,000 worth of games on Steam. You shouldn't assume that I'm some sort of Refund Freak. I saw an opportunity to get a refund and took it.

Interview with A Vampire is probably one of the best vampire films ever made. I can't really understand how they managed to get that one down right, but the rest of the Ann Rice books really failed to translate to the big screen. Didn't know that about Tom Cruise or Will Smith, but I guess it shouldn't be surprising.

Still, Cruise has had some very good roles over the years and I like to see him in more character/dramatic driven roles, he is pretty good when he is actually allowed to act. (So is Will Smith)

That GTA image (it's a gif/video really) is super funny but also show how good the game is in that each of the flashlights are then a object with mass and physics.

Christian Slater is great in True Romance (very good film) and also in the best Tom Cruse movie - Interview with A Vampire (I have not seen some other Tom Cruse movies that other rate highly - Mangnola, vinila sky's ect.)

My problem with Tom Cruse in movies is when I see him I think Tom Cruse not whatever character he is playing (some exception like above and Tropical Thunder)

About to watch that Tanker video.

Cruise has a script doctor and if he gets his way they will chop it up to make everything better for Tom Cruise, not necessarily the film. Everything from the way they shoot (making him seem taller) to dialogue that they change because it could reflect unfavorably on him. When you see Cruise in a role where he doesn't seem like himself its usually because the studio had the balls to stand up and refuse this sort of thing.

Another actor who is famous for that is Will Smith.

There was a period of time where they were honoring requests to refund purchases as old as 6 months or so when the policy first went into effect, but I don't know if they're still doing that.

Edit: checked my email. The only game they refunded was Shadows of Morderp. I guess I'll just toss all those Ass Creeds and Cities: Skyline into the never going to play basket.
