Orcs Must Die! Unchained Beta 2

Publisher Gameforge and developer Robot Entertainment announce that phase two of the closed beta test of Orcs Must Die! Unchained is now underway, offering a producer's letter and patch notes for the updated beta. They add that this means they will no longer be offering Founder's Packs going forward, offering special thanks to founders for their support. They also announce a full wipe and other regional localizations are part of the process:
Due to the nature of the changes introduced in CB2, player progress will be wiped. Player level, card packs, decks and friend lists will be reset for everybody. Everyone will be starting fresh. All acquired Gold will be maintained and reset to pre-spend levels. Players will also keep all skins that have been acquired through contests, tournaments or giveaways. I know this will be tough for some of you, but this a by-product of the beta process and is necessary for the game to improve. We believe that the new mechanics and play options introduced should make up for the reset and we hope you will agree.

Finally, at first we will only be releasing the English language version for CB2 as we put the new content and changes through a full localisation. Other languages will come online as soon as is practical.

Thanks screwing up the Orcs Must Die! franchise with this F2P nonsense that no one asked for.

It's definitely not as fun as the endless horde mode of the previous games, but I think it is similar enough that if you enjoyed the first game you will probably enjoy this too.

With that said, it is definitely a MOBA. Players have either an attacker or defender role, and the defender is the one that places the traps, which act the same as the previous games. You need a ridiculous amount of ingame currency to buy new traps though. You would need about 10 days of playing regularly to unlock one top-tier trap.

I played the first one for about 250 hours, and absolutely loved the co-op modes. I've put a couple hours into this one and probably won't put more than a couple more; but I just don't like the MOBA game format.

I never enjoyed endless horde mode, possibly because I played single player. I loved getting 5 skulls on hard for every puzzle level, but endless? Same issue for me as anything else endless, for the most part (see: Geometry Wars, GoW Horde Mode, etc.) You have 5 minutes of really boring, too easy gameplay that moves too slowly, then suddenly everything becomes insane and overbearing all at once. GoW actually did it well, maybe because you had like 5 people, where you could have some fronts going. Geometry Wars actually didn't get fun until it got insane. But OMD always felt like I was falling asleep and it was too easy until suddenly one round where everything got through.

The puzzle levels, though? A top 3 game of whichever year those games came out to me.

Game doesnt feel like the older games at all. Too bad. It was unique then, and fun.

Feels more like a tweaked version of Smite. Not that smite is bad.

Now its just another shameless moba clone.

Amen.
I'm hating the game now.
And I don't like the gameplay either.
