The first-ever gameplay footage – shown this weekend to a packed room at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio and available here on YouTube – highlights the extensive effort that has gone into updating the games for modern audiences. Homeworld Remastered Collection refreshes these tremendous games with new, high-resolution textures and models, the latest graphics-rendering technology, as well as a fully remastered score and new voice recordings from the original cast.
Gamers who purchase Homeworld Remastered Collection will also receive access to the Homeworld Remastered Steam Multiplayer Beta, which kicks off alongside Homeworld Remastered Collection on February 25, 2015. Competitive multiplayer modes for Homeworld and Homeworld 2 have been joined to offer players access to races, maps and game modes from both games in one integrated multiplayer experience. This beta combines code from over 15 years ago with newly-written changes, and will be shaped by fan feedback as development progresses.

Not having played the originals (hands in gamer card) I'm looking forward to trying these for the first time, based on the praise people here and elsewhere heap on it.

I'm super hyped about this. One of the few RTS games I loved and spent a lot of time with as a child.

So did they get rid of the forced-hyperjumps for Homeworld 2? That was the one thing that annoyed the hell out of me; you had to deliberately avoid triggering events in a given mission that would force you into the next one until you were actually ready, or you'd end up spontaneously jumping.
I hated that so much compared to the original which let you control this. And I LIKED occasionally watching all my ships dock / form up before the end of a mission, damnit!

Disappointed that there is no option to buy it in a box on a disc.
I just bought a few old PC games, it's nice to have them in my hands.

Hate? No,it's not about hatred. It's about choice.

H1 runs great for me @1600x1200 D3d with all of the eye-candy options maxxed. Beautiful. Not sure why you're having problems--win10TP B. 9926. Running in straight-up Win 10 mode, no compatible modes selected/needed. Catalyst 14.12 Omegas, 6-core FX-6300 @ 4.5GHz, 8 Gigs ram, HD 7850 2GB.
Can't get H2 to run yet...still trying though...

Here is 37 minutes of footage from PAX South. They've definitely put a ton of work into this game. I've only gone through about 10 minutes of the presentation but they've already talked about how the backgrounds weren't actually textures and how that was difficult to go through, the Mothership in the original was only about 100-200k worth of textures and is now 10Mb, the UI is completely scaleable and no longer static, lighting from beam weapons now spread across the entire playfield and is not static and built in mod support.
Just from what I've heard so far, they've put a lot of effort and love into remaking this into what the original fans want. They've even gotten the original artists to redo all of the cinematics through the game(the painted, comicy looking ones) so those are obviously still true to their original ideas.
I'm super hyped about this. One of the few RTS games I loved and spent a lot of time with as a child.

During voice over recording for Homeworld 2, complications with the Canadian actress who voiced Karan Sjet--your Fleet Intelligence--in the first game, Heidi Ernest, led to her role being recast for the second game. For Homeworld Remastered Collection, Gearbox went back to Ernest and had her record all mothership dialogue for the new Homeworld 2. Additionally, composer Paul Ruskay had the original recording tapes for the soundtrack, allowing Gearbox to re-implement Homeworld's original soundtrack for the collection.

As an aside, what the fuck is a "peps"?
Is that some illiterate, slackjawed, drooling retard's phone abbreviation for "people"? It's 7 fucking letters! SEVEN! You've already typed out 4! How fucking hard is it to type the other 3? Is the fucking world ending? Are you about to be ass raped and killed by Jason Vorhees and you only have 22 characters to get the message out?

Funny how peps want to wait for this game to go on sale , but don't have nada problem putting 1000$ or more for a pixel ship in Star Citizen , guess those peps are feeling important like " We made the game" jezz
To be fair, I don't think we have anybody who is into Star Citizen for nearly that much on Blues. Based on the last couple SC threads, we do have a small number of people who are in at the base level, whatever that was.

I am very much looking forward to playing this on a modern system. I, too, have all the originals (including Cataclysm) but they're pain in the ass to get running on a modern OS and the render mode is always stuck in "Software" as the Dx calls that the originals used are deprecated in today's world and even forcing it causes an ugly screen blink that gives me headaches. OpenGL works...provided it I run it in WINE on a Linux box.
