The master server lists are dead since the demise of Gamespy. These tools will direct connect you to other gamers, VPN over internet. I've used both before and found no security issues.
If no one is playing then it is up to you to create a lobby and host if I recall and hope others will join.
There are no other options to my knowledge, it's these tools or nothing.
Ladron3dfx wrote on Jan 25, 2015, 20:10:So, they used different master servers?
You'll have to use GameRanger or Tunngle to multi, both are free.
Tunggle seems to have a greater number of users, it's been a while since I last checked. Gameranger the easier of the two to use.

Woohoo! Never played Xwing Alliance, always heard it was great.
In terms of graphics, features, and story, its even better than Tie Fighter. It's one weakness, in my opinion, is that the difficulty can get quite extreme. X-Wing and Tie Fighter, both generally regarded as games of above average difficulty, have nothing on Alliance. If you can tolerate repeating some missions a dozen times before you finally get it right, you're in for a real treat. And if you can't tolerate that, the game gives you 3 mission skips over the course of the campaign.

And then there's the possibility, of course, that BioWare is also working on something other than SWTOR expansions. With DAI and the new ME game, they probably have enough Frostbite experience and tools by now that they could crank out a new Star Wars RPG quite easily.

Battlefront would be interesting, but I can't recall if you can play with bots. Otherwise there's no point now.
I agree with the previous posters about the insanely high pricing for ancient games.
Both the original Battlefront I & II allowed offline play with bots, a la Unreal Tournament.
It's a big questions whether the new one will or not, and will probably determine whether or not I buy it. It's it's being made on the BF4 engine, I assume it will not. I still play the second one (it's on Steam) coop with my brother vs. bots and my son will play offline entirely.

It's interesting how quickly these games have been released after Disney's buyout. I wonder which stubborn prick at Lucasfilm was resisting this for years and years.
Hmm, which fatty has been plugging up the spigot for all these years. Hmm, who could it be. WHO??

I'm sure Disney and LucasArts are in tears for all the money they are missing out on by not making X-Wing 2 and TIE Fighter 2, an SP KOTOR 3, another Dark Forces, etc.. And GoG shall reap the rewards of devoted fans of better gaming days of a bygone era.
Also, just an FYI, the XvT on GOG does include the expansion which added a 15 mission single player campaign as a Rebel or an Imperial.

I'd be happy as a pig in poo to see almost the entire - early - LA library updated/redone. All the Star Wars games, Outlaws, Day of the Testicle, Grim Fandango - and no what DF is doing doesn't count - etc. That's just money waiting to be made.
CJ_Parker wrote on Jan 20, 2015, 14:19:XvT: Balance of Power more or less made up for the lack of a SP campaign and is included in the GoG release. It wasn't as long as campaigns in X-Wing or Tie Fighter, but on the other hand you were able to play the same campaign from both the Rebel and Imperial sides, which to this day I don't think anyone else has ever done.Pigeon wrote on Jan 20, 2015, 13:50:
X vs.T was a let down at the time, they scraped the campaigns in favor of an online component; back in the days of dial-up. I think I ended up returning it for several reasons
Yep, I also remember being massively disappointed at the lack of a real campaign. However, going in with low expectations, I also remember being very positively surprised by the quality of the gameplay and the great single player missions. It might not have been a coherent campaign but it still ended up being a very decent single player experience. Still a shame though that they did not have an epic campaign with cutscenes etc. at a time when Wing Commander 3/4 defined the space opera genre.
