Dragon Age Inquisition Free & Paid DLC

The Dragon Age Inquisition website announces the release of two new content packs for Dragon Age Inquisition, adding to BioWare's recently released action/RPG sequel. One of these is a free multiplayer add-on, while the other is an upgrade to the Deluxe Edition for those with buyer's remorse over purchasing the standard version of the game. Here are the details:
Dragon Age™: Inquisition - Destruction adds new paths to existing destinations. The conflicts raging throughout the world have upset the balance of nature. Wild creatures now roam the battlefield, introducing chaos as they attack both friend and foe. Best of all, you can download this pack right now, totally free!

Whether you’re on your second playthrough or experiencing the world of Thedas for the first time, the Deluxe Upgrade will grant you cool bonuses to empower your Inquisition! This upgrade is ideal for players who purchased the Standard Edition of Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Here’s what you’ll get for the low price of $9.99

  • Skyhold Throne – Every ruler should sit in a place of high honor, but as the Inquisitor you will have the greatest throne of all, fashioned from an ancient dragon skull.
  • Red Hart Halla – Navigate the perilous, living world atop this great-horned beast.
  • Bog Unicorn – Once belonging to an evil marauder, this unique mount has returned to inspire fear into those who would oppose you.
  • Bring the world of Thedas wherever you go with the digital soundtrack. Click here for instructions on how to download yours.
  • Dragon Age Multiplayer Deluxe Edition chests!

That’s not all! The Deluxe Upgrade also includes the mighty Flames of the Inquisition gear:

  • Multi-class Weapons: Smite your enemies with the Flames of the Inquisition weapons arsenal. Whether staff or daggers, greatsword or war hammer, these weapons will make short work of your foes.
  • Inquisitor Armor: Protect yourself against the onslaught of enemy attacks by suiting up in the Flames of the Inquisition armor.
  • Armored Mount: Flames of the Inquisition gear also includes a valiant steed, complete with its own set of Inquisition armor forged in the flames of battle.

Just go to the vendor in the hissing wastes and the other t3 vendor is in emprise du lion. The tier3 schematics from the DLC are terrible compared to everything except white drops. You don't need to farm random chests to get better ones either.

To clarify errors above -

You get Tier 1 / 2 / 3 sets of the flame equipment plans at various points in the game. Only the main character can wear the armor, but anyone can use the weapons. I'm in the endgame, and still haven't found better Tier 3 plans for some of the equipment types.

Then again, I refuse to save scum, or treasure chest cheat, so if you're into all that you can certainly get all the Tier 3 plans which renders all the CE plans irrelevant. But trust me when I say it's really nice getting free plans for every type of weapon and armor when a new tier becomes available. It removes a lot of swinginess from the random loot roller.

I'm disappointed the first expansion is for multiplayer, as it's pretty terrible, IMO.

There are a few zones where you need to get someone far away without a waypoint/camp anywhere near it. Mounts are useful there but only when you want to get there fast, which isn't often.

35 hours in Robdot? You have yet to even begin.

Mounts are worthwhile in the Hissing Wastes, at least as far as what most people seem to say, but I barely used mine there, either. The bog unicorn is an ugly decayed horse with a giant nail through its head, and the armored mount got dat big ole butt, so even if you did want to use one I doubt anyone would really miss the DE mounts anyway.

The weapons/armor are pretty useless, too. I replaced this armor before I ever left Haven, and it's pretty easy to have better schematics before the higher levels of it unlock as well if you do side quests and clear areas.

I can't see it being worth it for most people, but I guess it's nice that they offer it at least.

Still awaiting fist patch, that last one heard 100x more what went wrong with it vs what was added that made a real difference. What a school-kid patch attempt that was.

Agreed nothing there is appealing, I got some of that Flame weapons as part of the preorder and they are useless tier 2 schematics.

You eventually also get Tier 3 schematics, though you have to return to the chest in Skyhold for it to get them.

The Tier 3 stuff is okay, I definitely used it when I got them, but you do indeed outclass them.

I find it more annoying that ONLY your character can use them...

Unless you really like DA:I's sound track (which I admit has some pretty damn awesome tracks on it, but it's very, VERY samey), don't bother getting the deluxe edition. It's just not worth it. The Halla looks stupid, as does the bog Unicorn. The throne is okay, but the inquisitor's model doesn't really fit well on it, and the weapons/armor are pretty decent and you will use them in your playthroughs, but only for a short while as you pretty quickly find better stuff.

So that really only leaves the sound track. It's 30 tracks, and I have five of them on my phone because they're excellent, but whether that's worth 10 bucks is debatable. YMMV.

I'm so disappointed that the only Halla mount is from the Deluxe Ed of the game. That said, I only mount up on rare occasions anyway (mostly when I want to get to a spot in a zone at a distance but still only half-way between two camps/waypoints... and I'm in a hurry.)

I hear the Dragon Skull throne is pretty awesome though so I may just plop down $10 for that alone lol.

These Flame of the Inquisitory weapons, what level range are they? The Dragon weapons are nice because you unlock Tier 2 and 3 versions through gameplay. That so for the FotI stuff? Or is it like end-game gear?

Hey Bioware, your next free DLC I'd like to see a transmutation system build into the crafting system. Pay some gold to apply a skin I already have to a new weapon or armor. The warden named armors, I.E. 'In Piece, Vigilance', 'In War, Victory' and IMHO the best looking armor in the game 'In Death, Sacrifice' are so awesome but dramatically outstripped by late-game crafted. I wish I could apply that skin to the later-game stuff. :/

Seems like a waste of money. But it's an improvement on making a lore important character paid DLC. I'm looking at you ME3.

I have used a mount once to finish the mount quest, otherwise, you are better off walking and gathering the resources as you go as you will need those to even make the flames of the inquisition gear.

I am a 100+ hours in and I am not done yet and not bored of the game yet either :). Not quite as good combat wise as DA:O but the world is much better. On foot is the way to go for exploring it IMHO.

While I won't dispute their rather disappointing value to the player given that they essentially cost money to own, it should be pointed out that at a "certain" point in the game you receive new recipes for upgraded versions of all of the "Dragon" armor and weapons. They look the same and still can only be worn/used by the player but their stats are brought up to a level that makes them relevant again. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I think they even have upgrade slots...but I could be wrong on that.

I have found these new recipes to be somewhat useful depending on which class I am playing with and what items I have found by the time I get to that point in the game. The stuff I get at the beginning of the game on the other hand is nearly useless within the first hour or so. It would help tremendously if the initial set you receive was upgrade-able through crafting.

As for the mounts....I think their use is so limited from a practical standpoint that I don't really care which one I am using. Folks who are more into the role-playing part of the game might find the selection of mounts more agreeable though. There is basically something for everyone and they are fairly easy to accumulate.

Personally, I wish they had put more time into other QoL issues but maybe I will see some of that in future patches and DLC.

Agreed. It's a rather useless CE. The Harts are stupid with their massive antlers. The dracolich's are just fugly. The Bog Unicorn is fugly and creepy. WTF is with the sword through it's head? It's an undead beast, not a unicorn. The throne is fugly as well. And the MP chests are weak sauce. Granted I only paid $5 more for the CE it was still a ripoff.
